Silver visits Portland at least once a year, as he does with all of the league 30 franchises.

"There is no other market I travel to where the support is as wide and deep for a team as it is in Portland," Silver said.

He said it was "unimaginable" that the Blazers would ever move from Portland, adding that he'd never heard that the idea has been considered.

"It's just unimaginable," he said. "The only reason I'm not saying impossible is because crazy things happen in business."

He said the league remains interested in relocating a franchise to Seattle, which is "a great NBA market. It's probably the best market without an NBA team. And it's still our hope that an NBA team returns to Seattle."

"He" is NBA deputy commissioner Adam Silver
This makes me even more mad because we all know it wasn't about attendance or fan base or not able to have superstars. It was always about and still about luxury suite. The city did not wanted to make a new stadium with more luxury suites. David Stern and his ego basically made an example out of our team by taking away the team from our city. It's simple as that. Granted, our city/state government is being run by bunch of idiots but it was David Stern's ego that pull the trigger. At the time of relocating, Mark Cuban was only owner in the league who was vocal about Seattle is simply the better market than OKC (he is only owner who vote against the move as well).
When David Stern finally steps down as a commissioner, NBA might come back to the city.

you really think Seattle is angry because Durant became a superstar when the team left? Seattle would've gave up every man on that roster to keep the team on that city; and rightfully so - Oklahoma city does NOT deserve that team. They basically hit the lottery.
I'm just saying the *****ing got louder and from more people last season. The previous season, the one when I could pay 60$ and be damn near courtside, the Seattle contingent was much smaller in numbers and less vocal as far as there internet presence and particularly trolling the Thunder boards/threads. I don't know why you all are getting so sensitive about that. Look up in the thread and one of your own said the exact same thing, that it bothered him more when they got good. Cry me a river.

Paul Allen voted against the move too. As the Seahawks owner he didn't want to fall out of favor with Seattle sports fans.

 Clown.
Sonics' fans have been pissed the second that **@# Shultz sold the team to a fool from OKC who claimed he'd do everything to keep the team here. That was obviously not the case and the team was stolen right from under our nose. The city isnt going to pony up the money to build another stadium (whether it was for the Sonics then or currently for the Huskies now) so they knew what they were doing. (Dont forget the fact that the common non diehard Supersonic fan tax payer weren't down to build a new arena because the staudium was remolded 10 #*$+%%% years prior and cost the city $75 million and then at the time of the sale to Bennett, Stern was saying we needed a completely new one.

As someone mentioned before I dont give a #$*# about KD or anyone on that team...go ahead keep them, just give us the green and gold and our history back. You took one person claiming he was MORE pissed that KD turned into a star into thinking that the Seattle fans are fairwether or some #$*#.

if im not mistaken that sonicsgate documentary came out right after i left and people were pissed and enraged when the sonics left even during that first year when the thunder sucked.

this wasn't the grizzlies or the hornets moving where it happened and no one really blinked an eye. the sonics had a fanbase, they had loyal fans, and had over 40 years of history in the city. a team like that moving is going to have a huge effect and make noise.

at the end of the day okc seems like a good city that can support a team and their fans didn't do anything wrong in all this, if i was a sonics fan my gripe and wishes of ill will would be on clay bennent because the way he manipulated that whole thing was a joke. i don't wanna hear the build a new stadium argument either, if that was so credible then why are the kings considering moving into an arena in anaheim that's less nba suitable then key arena.

one thing ill say is this about the okc market, while it may seem like a great market and a great home court advantage i almost guarantee it won't last like that forever. yes they supported the team when they sucked in 08-09 but that was part of the honeymoon stage, they coulda went 9-73 and still woulda had a packed house that year. in the early 90's the hornets had what were to be considered the best fans in basketball and would always sell out games, within a few years bad ownership and questionable decisions led to attendance slowly but surely declining. not saying it will for sure happen in okc but you never know.

I think the only parallel with Charlotte is that a pro franchise has set up shop in a college sports-dominated area. Charlotte was in ACC basketball territory, and OKC is in college football territory. I have nothing against OKC fans at all, and I don't think any right-minded Sonics fan would. The vitriol is directed at the owners, Mayor McFatty, Schultz and Stern.

I don't think I'll ever get over the team leaving. We were robbed of a team, and even though all basketball fans hope for a team to come back to Seattle, it will never be the same. Sports in Seattle just hasn't been the same. For the third year in a row, Seattle has earned the not-so-proud title of ‘Most Miserable Sports City’  according to Forbes Magazine. As much as that pisses me off....its true
