Seriously, though. What is the point of the existence of HBCU's today?

Fact is if you think we as a people have a problem...go out and try tohelp us..are you studying to become a teacher in an inner city area?
Do you go into neighborhoods and talk about how we need to stop the violence?

Most likely not...so stop posting threads like this on a forum where you know idiots are going to chime in and hop on wat youre sayin..
Theres people doing that now.  Black people just dont listen.   i blame the parents for raising black kids the way they do.  i blame BET..
So wat is posting a topic on NT going to do to alleviate the situation?

Since you have such strong feelings about the situation dont you think it would be better to try your hand at helping your own people?

This isnt a black people issue its an issue with the way people think.

HBCU's no longer serve the purpose they once had, back in the day. (can you really deny this?)
bro are you serious?

HBCUS were established to educated blacks when they were not able to go to other universities and were not allowed to seek higher education. Now that blacks are able to go to other universities and other institutions. why is it that 80% black female medical students graduate from Spelman? now to say that graduating from a HBCU or going to one is irrelevant is just straight stupidity.on top of a large influx of top blacks still going to HBCUS over other universities should indicate that they are still creditable and still have there place in the education system

Btw the President of Brown University, Ruth J. Simmons, is a graduate of Dillard University a HBCU in New Orleans. where i am currently attending

Because 99.9% of people in Spelman are black females.   i rather deal with people who can coincide with other races rather than deal with a black female/male that are only familiar with their own people..i seriously dont understand why employers even hire people from HBCU's

thats like saying white people can't deal with other people of different races because they are the majority in most situations...c'mon

i wont even address the last part

i hate when people try to scream about diversity to minorities of any race/nationality etc...being a minority there's a good chance your whole life has been diverse...why don't they go preach to people who sit in their gated communities and private schools to come seek us out?

most black people are scared of diversity. They feel intimidated by people who are not like them, so they go to these HBCU's

I understand that Spelman is a all female institute. what I am saying is that why are all these top tier students traveling to Spelman to get their medical degrees? if the institute was not credible do you really think that 80% of the black female doctors would actually have come from one place! really bro you need to take a seat with your self hating. like at first I thought you were some wanna be unlce ruckus type. but really bro your last post was sad. employers shouldnt hire students that graduated from HBCUS
smh.gif
Ill say this again. I suppose Brown University made a huge mistake when pick their current president. who in FACT is from an HBCU.

How son come in here and say we have no history as a race? SMH...

Isnt that the whole point of the Civil Rights movement???? For everyone to be able to study under the same institution?
The point of the civil rights movement was for the choice to be able to study under the same institution.  Like how alot of  black people might goto the back of the bus but at least now its your choice not some mandated thing just because of your skin color.

I think you are confused about what a HBCU actually is...

Historically black colleges are not exclusive. they are all inclusive.

they are more accessible for those who arent in the best position financially also.

why is a black person preferring to attend school at a HBCU any different from a white person attending school at a university that is 85% white?

My man said civil rights movement, as if HBCU's weren't around before the 60's.

So we were supposed to wait for MLK before we try to get higher learnng?
