Duncan was #1 option in all his 3 rings this decade, his team never missed the playoffs, and they were almost always chosen as a team to win the finals.
I don't wanna hear all that crap about "#1 option", It's said MJ wouldn't have won maybe all his rings without Pippen, so your saying because of that MJ isn't the greatest player because of that? Come on, leave that argument at the door. If you think about it, All greatest players had major help from at least one other superstar alongside him during a championship run.

It's Tim Duncan... but it's definitely not a runaway, Kobe is right up there with him. Duncan and Kobe are the only players be selected All-NBA in every year this decade (1999-00 to 2008-09). If you include 2009-10 instead of 1999-00, the overall numbers get even closer. Shaq has no business being considered, his last 3-4 seasons have been mediocre... he had no business being named All-NBA (3rd Team) last year.

When the Heat won the chip in 06, it was Wade's team. After 06, Shaq never lead a team.

And like you said, Parker was the finals MVP last Spurs' Chip and Manu deserved the other one. After losing to the Lakers in 08, can you really say Duncan is the "man" of the team?

Kobe has been the most dominant this entire decade and the Spurs are not even a legitmate contender right now.

Yes TD is still the "man" he just needed co-stars to help him out in the end...

Kobe

I could be persuaded to go with Tim Duncan if I went more in depth.

No way the answer is shaq though this is player of the decade, not player of the first half of the decade.

It's really hard to decide cause of the time of their peaks and when they all started but with that being said I gotta give it to Timmy. However many times you heard "oh theyre old," this guy lead his team to the playoffs and got it done 3 times. Kobe was over-shadowed by Shaq's craziness in the early 2000's but to put him in front of Kobes is stupid. Shaq is the greatest for half the decade but not the whole decade. And to address KG over Kobe, wow so ridiculous, and your argument was that he needed Shaq?? KG needed PP and Ray Ray, $+*+ with that argument.

Bingo!

Oh my how people forget, that's 2 titles right there, they won 3 in the decade.

lol @ Timmy D over KB. How many times did the Lakers stomp the spurs in the playoffs finally until 2003? Back in 2008 Lakers stomped them once again, without Shaq and Spurs have been non existant since.

Tim Duncan is a standup dude, but back in 2005, if any team could have the choice of picking up either Duncan or Kobe who do you think they'd go for?

Kobe has 10 years of dominance without his game declining at all. Tim Duncans has obviously declined the last few years of the decade. as well.

And don't gimime that Shaq won the titles for the Lakers BS, if you put up 28 points per game in the playoffs which KB did with Shaq, i'm pretty sure you're a huge reason for winning

The Lakers have won 4 titles and made it to the finals 6 times in the last decade. Which player was on all 6 of those teams?

I'm rollin' with TD, Shaq, and Kobe.

They all arguably have their own cases as player of the decade.

But if I could choose one, I got to roll with TD.

I don't know why Bron is being mentioned without Wade or AI not being mentioned.

all good but missing the most important factor... Finals MVP

Shaq: 3
TD: 3
Kobe:1

My ranking. i mean everyone ranking should be like this.

1a: Shaq
2b: TD
3: Kobe

Had to give slight edge on Shaq over TD mainly because his 3peat era was so dominant. TD was more consistant..but Shaq had that superstardom game over TD

He was arguably the number 1 guy in 2003 and definetly the number one guy in 04 in where he was the only reason Lakers even won that one game VS Detroit. So your logic fails.

If you go by 04 and up thats clearly more than half the decade.

Not to mention all Heat fans will tell you he wasn't number 1 on Miami....Do the math.

Your logic fails because if he wasn't jacking up bad shots the Lakers might have stood a chance.

Honestly I don't see how its not Tim Duncan his team has never not been a contender and he hasn't had the most talent around him.

It just pisses me off how much TNT never acknowledges Kobe anymore. Dude averaged 28 points a game in 01, and just went on from there...Pretty sure he was dominant considering how much smaller he is than Shaq/Duncan.

Shaq has been irreleveant since Miami last won the championship, meaning he's been absent almost half of the decade.
They spent a whole segment talking about how KObe has had the best 2nd half of the decade compared to everyone else. TNT definitely gave him credit man. Relax
