Lavar Ball's brother names are LaFrance, LaValle, LaRenzo and LaShon http://www.maxpreps.com/news/jHzX-K...others-speaks-about-growth-of-chino-hills.htm
He like one of them hood fathers. "My lil boy better than all ya'll" He going overboard though. I heard some clip on First Take when he was comparing his son's "brand" to Jordan's. Slow down Pops.
Didn't Archie Manning refuse to let Eli play for the Chargers? Didn't they threaten to sit out the season if they drafted him?
How do you explain the middle kid sitting some 1-3 months "resting" to give his younger brother "play". How can a father dictate so much, if its not the coach? This whole situation is crazy and I wish no ill will towards the kids.. Just stop interviewing the dad. I have never heard of a prime SENIOR sitting out months at a time resting for the playoffs? I get that you have a scholarship. But wow.. WHOS RUNNING THINGS?
Hell yea... Lol ***** don't give a damn about hoops tho. Son be at the piston game on his Nintendo 3dsplaying racing games, he's addicted to cars. Ask yo cousin Tammy how I tomahawked these nuts on her chin
They alluded to it, and Eli and Archie did get a lot of crap for it. That was in 2004 right around the time the NFL network started. It was players on there giving Eli crap around that time talking about he would get his "welcome" to the league when he played. It was a bunch of articles critical of them too. Elway, Steve Francis, Bo Jackson are a few others which come to mind with similar situations. None of them or their pops said they would only play for one specific team before the draft, none of them proclaimed their son to be better than a reigning two time MVP or proclaimed their sons brand would be bigger than someone the caliber of Michael Jordan. Lonzo's pops did the same thing prior players parents have done. He just took it to an entirely different level and did way more than those players situations in an era where social media is watching your every move and things are nitpicked in way we haven't seen before. Hope it doesn't hurt his sons careers though.
People always wanna be mad at someone's confidence Let the Ball family cook, nobody believes in someones dreams until they actually do it. Yeah the odds are against you, but you got to BELIEVE no matter what.
I don't think anyone's mad at the confidence. The positive or negative opinions on here have no impact on them or the family either way. The pops running his mouth though can rub gm's and people in power within NBA teams off the wrong way though. Especially with something like "my son will only play for the lakers" The saying he's better than Curry stuff can rub players the wrong way that some basketball dad is saying his freshman son is better than the back to back MVP and is going to come dominate their league. If it was Lonzo Ball confidentally making those bold statements I'd salute it. He's accountable for what he says and has to sink or swim by his words. He shouldn't have added pressure on him because of the words of his father though.
This type of response kills me. "What is a father SUPPOSED to do." Uhm, he isn't SUPPOSED to throw wild predictions out there that he probably doesn't even believe. Man, put it this way. All of you parents can say, "My child is this and that" there is a piece of reality SOMEWHERE in your brains knowing damn well whether or not what you are saying is realistic. There is no way I believe his father honestly believes the Steph stuff. No way he believes it. Shut the hell up and be a PARENT and not a hype man That is what a "Father is SUPPOSED to do."
He should make some kind of bet about his son ending up better than Steph. If he loses the bet he can never talk again for the rest of his life.
yeah but how is that worse than what Lavar Ball is doing? he is running his kids life, the Eli thing was planned by him and Archie and I thought it was D bag move but Eli was like 22 years old
I always look for race and I can't find it here. Older dudes, does anyone remember Matt Barkley's father and how he basically did the same thing with his son and propping him up in the media? He got PLENTY of backlash for his actions.
did archie get the same backlash? could lonzo and his father have planned this? and how old will lonzo be when he gets drafted?
Black man out here controlling his destiny, not letting his kid get pimped, and being confident in it. What's not to like? I love it.
So much wrong in this post. 1. You don't know what if he is running his life 2. How is it a d bag way to want to choose where you want to work after college? People do it literally every day. 3. What bad is Ball's dad doing?
What has LaVar Ball done that has affected Lonzo's career? Give a couple interviews? Archie straight up took control of Eli's football career, direct control. And Lonzo is what, 19? So why is LaVar intervening in his life (which he really is not going) so much more offensive than Archie doing it a 22 year old. Kinda seems like you holding them to different standards.
