****The Everything LaVar Ball Thread****

Lonzo and the Ball family are kind of the first of it's kind, but this has kind of been brewing for a while and social media is aiding in changing the landscape for young hoopers.

These high school players man are full fledged stars by the time they get to college, let alone the NBA. Lamelo is a full fledged star before his senior year of high school. More and more young hoopers are going to come to the table demanding bags in the future because of this.

Like Drake is out here posting to his 30 something million followers him in a Zion jersey man. These dudes are stars and there's always been young stars, but because of Instagram it's a bit more tangible. If you're Like lamelo or zion or some ****, imagine Nike trying to give you like 200k deal when you already are a gigantic influencer with Million's of followers.

Young ****** get paid :hat

Everyone should read.

I watched Kanye whine in an interview that the "industry" wouldn't let him connwect with manufacturers to make his clothing line.

Lavar figured it out though.

20Ms is a lot of money to leave on the table but you can look at as an investment.

I took a loss on an investment property but I looked at it as an education cost. I learned what to do and what not to do. That could be this shoe and the money lost from Zo's first shoe deal.

Long term if Lonzo becomes a star it's not absurd for them to make more than a standard Nike deal over the course of his career.

I think it's stupid people pay 300 for Yeezys so I don't think it's that crazy if these actually sell out.

Kanye was wasting his time trying to be in the in crowd instead of saying **** it and leading with his zombie like following and influence on fashion. Combine that with the social media wave and he could be king right now. Instead he wants old white guys to see him as their equal; he'll die waiting on that.

Lonzo going into the league with his own shoe, signed to his own agency, what a time. I hope lonzo does well man. Need more young black men doing this.
PREACH.  Seems a lot of people just can't see this side of it.  Too caught up in the lulz to see the positives brought about by this move.

Can we all acknowledge how crazy this entire thing is? This is like NBA 2K MyCareer come to life lol. I can't wait to watch Lonzo's rookie year.

Kanye too schizo to focus on just one project. Only recently he starting to strictly cater to the hypebeasts, but he's still trying to please everyone with his other side stuff, even the music
One thing Lavar is still doing right is that he's focused on trying to sell the BBB brand in the athletic goods market with unique publicity
I still don't agree how he burned bridges with potential partners who will turn into main rivals, but I can't hate that he's getting money.

I hear and feel all of this, I just can't salute ppl (LaVar) who's foundation is built off going Trump mode with the outrageous troll statements.

Lavar only needs to sell like 2,000 shoes to make a mil. If his production costs are low he can make some paper.

Total revenue would be a mil, but taxes and production costs will probably bring that to down to 300 to 400k
Still not too bad of a profit

Loll, what did he say that was actually offensive?

^i think he's talking about when Lavar trash talks about Lonzo gonna be better than Steph Curry/LeBron, blaming teammates for Lonzo losing, saying the BBB brand is not for broke people, etc.

Some people are gonna get turned off by those statements

But also a few love that brashness

Realistically, he gave his opinion about his son and Steph curry. He never said anything about Lebron, but he made a blanket statement about professional athletes' kids and used lebron's as well as others as examples. Lonzo can't individually lose at a team sport, the team lost. And based on the price point of everything BBB offers, it's really not for broke people.

People just love to be offended by things that don't directly affect them in any way. But "trump like trolling" is a pretty big exaggeration.

Idk about the second part man...in a team sport you can't be throwing people under the bus like that, especially when you aren't coaching the team and you're only the father of the college star player

Plus Lonzo disappeared for the majority of the game where UCLA got bounced out of tourney

But yeah, people do get offended easily

Personally, I think Lavar says some real dumb ish at times, but I ain't mad at it. If that's how he feels a certain way, then what can you do?

Also let me add to why a lot of people find Lavar disagreeable, when he publicly disrespected LeBron's kids, and even when LeBron told him to cut it out, Lavar still doubled down on it. You can understand why people don't like Lavar.

I get his point and it's valid in some cases of sports, but there's certain boundaries you have to know to not touch especially when your son depends on those connections to further his career and brand.

tell George Soros hi for me. tell him he's late on my climate march protest check though.

All lavar needs is for the young Kardashian chick to wear these on her IG in some lounge/bikini pic (which will happen) and it's a wrap. Instant sellout.

In the midst of all this though, people are forgetting that lonzo can't play. He's missing out on millions in guaranteed shoe deal money and also marketing revenue by dealing with an inexperienced agent. And his talent isn't even verified. This is a ballsy move to cash out early..but once he's drafted and hits the court.. the charade is over. He can only fake injuries for so long.

i guess I should contribute to the thread...

LaVar is largely apolitical. it's also not really a racial issue. of course there are racial undertones at play, but there's been nothing overtly racist, like what happened with Adam Jones in Boston. if there was, i missed it in this thread.

yet LaVar is incredibly polarizing.

which is fine. that's just sports. you cheer for some people and you cheer against others. but it doesn't extend to their personal life. i was the biggest Kobe hater, but I wasn't happy about the rape allegations.

sure, here we've mixed in business, and you could argue LaVar is an individual, so not giving unconditional support is not cool. but it's not like the balls are struggling financially, and in a couple months they're going to be even richer. i always cheered on Nike over their competitors, minus the sweatshops. win or lose, i appreciate that LaVar is shaking things up, and he's welcoming the controversies, so i don't see the issue with being openly supportive or critical of the balls.
