- In 2005 after going through a "Tiger slump" and losing the #1 ranking Woods came back and won the Buick and then the Masters. We were told "Tiger has returned."
- In 2006 following the death of his father Woods took 9 weeks off and then "Tiger has returned."
- In 2008 Woods had knee surgery and missed two majors and several months. When he came back in early 2009 "Tiger has returned."
- In late 2009 Tiger had his scandal and then took the rest of the year off. He announced in March 2010 that he was coming back for the Masters and "Tiger has returned."
- Struggling with inconsistent play in 2010 Woods took an extended break to refine new techniques. He came back in November and "Tiger has returned."
- In 2011 he announced in May/June he was taking a break. He later announced he was coming back for the Bridgestone and "Tiger has returned."

I applaud the national audience that they are cautiously following the latest on Woods and aren't apparently following the "Return" headlines like sheep this week because ESPN needs a major storyline.

It's quite possibly the slowest time of the sports year for a guy like me. Training camp for the NFL isn't that big of a deal to me, I'm not a huge football guy, and the Niners have been a train wreck recently. Baseball isn't my sport, and basketball is in the toilet right now. Sorry for being happy to see one of the best golfers I'll ever see.

At the British, all anyone was talking about was Rory, and even though he underperformed to what ESPN wanted to see from him, it was still an enjoyable tournament to some degree because of the prestige of the British Open. A few weeks before the last major of the season, we get Tiger back.

I'm sorry for being excited about it.

Maybe it's just me, but Scott had a hell of a lot of confidence today.

I watched all of the first round, some great scoring out there today.

Tiger putted really well today, hopefully he keeps it up.

Adam Scott played great, confidence was through the roof.

I hope they show Jason Day's round tomorrow, he is a great young player who doesn't get enough exposure like the other young guys do.

I was just talkin in general, it's all good my bad. Hey i enjoy watchin Woods every tournament (and will watch this wknd).  I just think if this latest Woods comeback is under the radar nationally (for how under the radar Woods can get I mean) it's probably not a bad thing and shows maybe people aren't sheep to national media's obsession with creating these god awful story lines with Woods instead of just letting the dude play and let's cool it until he wins something big again. Hey Tom Rinaldi, please move aside Tiger needs to shoot now.

Ryo had a hell of a round. The guy is so damn meticulous.

Adam Scott's putting game is
