How late am I on the T3i? I was looking at the specs yesterday and it seems to me to be the same as a T2i, or am I buggin?

it's pretty much the T2i but with an articulated screen.

Picked up the 50mm f/1.8 II lense today for my T3i.

I' am still on the fence about the T3i, I could save a lot of money and drop down to the T2i, Buy a refurb 60D body from Canon for the exact same price as the T3i. Or go real big and get a refurb 7D for around $1300. (I refurbish electronics for a living, so know the deal)

Thing is, I read as many reviews as I could, watched countless youtube videos and the 60D doesn't seem like much of an upgrade from the T3i.

Might even pick up a older 5D if the prices fall some more.

^ drop to t2i, use money saved for some nice glass or lights, upgrade body later.

Yoo Fongstarr, thanks! I understand what you're getting at with adding more of the environment.
Only thing is, it was a spur of the moment kind of thing so all I had on me was my nifty-fifty.
I'll definitely keep my eyes on those mags whenever I get the chance. Thanks!

Hopefully I'll have another set soon.

Canon Macro 50mm 2.5

Now a question:

So far i have the original kit lens for the T2i, the macro 50mm 2.5 and a 50mm 1.8. I rented the sigma 8mm FE and today i rented a Canon 85mm 1.8.

A lot of the photography I am going to be doing this summer is of cars (posed and moving/ride beside shots) which lens would you guys recommend? Ive been using the 50mm 1.8 the most lately but ive heard that the 85mm is a good all purpose lens. Any thoughts?

^ maybe you should consider going wide, especially for cars.

tokina 11-16 is great, or just get the 17-55 2.8 or 17-50 sigma for 500 less than the canon. 17 would be wide enough possibly, but try out the 11-16 for extra wide shots.

the 50 is a great lens, its more general purpose than the 85. 85 is great as a portrait lens. for your needs its probably not what you want at this point.

if you're looking for general purpose, the 24-105 is another option for you as well. 17-55 is still a great way to go though.

and if you're looking at only getting primes, then perhaps the 24 or something wider is what you should look for.

this site is great for lens reviews

I currently have the Nikon D40 with 35mm, wide angle, and 18-55mm. I feel like upgrading to a Canon but not sure if I should cop a T2i or 7D. I know the price range is big on those two. I don't do photography on the daily.

NICE!

Just looked around and that Tonika 11-16 is about the same or cheaper than the 85mm as well. Read some reviews and nothing but good things.

Thanks for the advice.

honestly, i have a 7D and it's one hell of a camera. but since you don't do photography on the daily and if it's more of a casual thing, stick with the t2i. whenever some of my friends go shooting, i'm more inclined to grab my friend's t2i than my other friend's 5dmii. the t2i is light and it's a powerhouse...it's a damn steal!
one of a few trivial reasons i went with the 7D is i do like the weight of the camera (heavier than the 5dmii) and my pinky doesn't hang off the grip.

Okay, let's toss budget aside. I want a Canon DSLR that can shoot HD video. I know most of the current lines can do it right now so I'm wondering what is the difference between say the T2i and the 7D and the 5D Mark II

Do they all shoot the same HD or what?
