Today was a good day 😎
I had the pleasure of presenting a mixed media canvas I did for the prop master the man himself
Kool Dj Red Alert 🚨 at the port authority bus terminal in midtown nyc. My Friday/Saturday nights from 9pm to 12am listening to 98.7 kiss fm (wbls mr magic & marly marl) was the best as a kid.
Salute my guys @osd_paperchasr and Co- Curator @koerodriguez for executing flawless victory!!!!

“The Red Alert Experience'' celebrates legendary New York disc jockey and Hip-Hop icon, Kool DJ Red Alert. 2022 marks Red's 45th year as a professional DJ and beloved Hip-Hop figure. Featuring carefully curated items that celebrate Red’s long and storied musical career, THE RED ALERT EXPERIENCE will give Red his flowers “now,” while he can smell them.

The Red Alert Experience and Snapshot by Irving Pantin will open on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 with a panel discussion featuring DJ Red Alert, Irving “Snapshot” Pantin and the exhibition curators. Red Alert will also perform a special opening day mix at the Port Authority Midtown Bus Terminal’s Performing Arts Stage located in the South Wing Main Concourse. Both exhibitions will end on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

Yo red is one of the most down to earth cat I ever met in this game hand down. We use to live in the same neighborhood back in the early 2000’s. Him and his family good peoples
It was a blast for me the do that for hiphop legendary icon. The story’s he tells just about 98.7 kiss is a library in itself
I saw Kool DJ Red Alert on the train once and wanted to tell him how much I appreciated his contributions but he was just chilling and I felt like I didn't want to disturb him at the time.. Looking back now I wish I would've just given him his props that day.

That was me. I did my 2019/18 US open six panel hat. I hate the flag on everything, you have to have time so get some water and make sure too have clean hands (might have to wash a few times depending on how long it takes you cause of the natural oils in your skin)
I used just my fingernails and patience (see pictures)

…..now I hope you are not thinking about doing that to the hi tech jacket as that is one of the dopiest RL pieces in recent releases (top 25 along w/ the pants) imo don’t do it because that’s what actually makes the jacket da ish.

Now a suggestion go to hobby lobby,Michael’s,bleck art supplies (depending on your area)
Match up the navy blue w/ createx acrylic airbrush paint and get some 0.1 -0.5/0.6 brushes
After painting the letters use a household hairdryer on the highest setting for 60 seconds and dry to the touch then turn the garment inside out and put in the dryer on regular settings for 20/30 minutes.
Wa-lah now you have a ghostface killa RL pullover. Again just a suggestion.
A lot easier than removing the letters
I hope this helps but Imo I wouldn’t do it as this is one of those “you got one” RL items
Peace

Yup - was thinking of removing the letters on the front pocket and just going plain.

Saw someone online had done it to the black Snow Beach pullover and thought it was dope.

Plain Hi Tech with just the patch appeals to me for some reason.

Figured removing the letters would leave a shadow anyway so might as well leave it alone.

Please read nimisiskrash nimisiskrash 's post again. That Hi Tech Pullover is a new classic. It's yours, so do what you like. But, I'll leave this pic of Rae here to help you with your decision:

Well, I guess we're the outliers here, because that big blow-up HI TECH on the front is one of the main reasons I've never once thought of possessing that jacket. I DO like it when I see someone wearing it, (as in that Rae pick above). And I do understand that it is basically the 2020s Snow Beach. But I would really REALLY like it if was plain front like you described above. I guess that's why I did this;

It's funny these last few posts about do/do not remix it, cause I logged on to post this goofy thing;

Meeehhh... for $55.00 in my size? One is almost obligated to cop. But truth be told, I just can't rock with these Crayola colors. That screaming yellow hood and that green front pocket is all I can see in the mirror. There will be a laying of hands. And then I log in and you guys are talking about removing letters/painting/dying/drying, "do or do not, there is no try (lol)"... interesting read. LOL.

Patch comes off, Rit dye remover to tone down the colors, then a solid-color re-dye. The patch will go back on, probably on the arm. Believe it or not, I can live with the letters down the sleeve, although I am mad curious about the process of removing them. I don't plan to, but... who knows.

I don't flip Polo anymore, so resell value is of no concern. Oddly enough, this new-style "Old Navy" material blend they used is comfortable as ****! I'm wearing this thing as I type, and man, this thing feels great. I wasn't expecting that.

Now, on to the REAL Hi Tech. That pureness, that essence, that Hi Tech done right, the first time.; these recently acquired Hi tech, (yes, I'm using the term interchangeably), booties from 1993.

From the seller:

"Bought at the (defunct) Polo Sport Ski Lodge on 72nd Street and Madison ave in Manhattan nYC during the opening in 1993 (while hanging with Azad, Bloomingdale's 59th st rep at the time, that became the Polo Sport Lodges RRL Specialist in early 1994) Good times - All logos attached. "

OG, 29 years old. I am the second owner. Purchased purely as a collectible. Apparently woven out of pure Unobtainium. For the life of me, I've railed at the heavens above as to WHY Ralphie never made some "proper" Hi Tech socks. Well, apparently he did, (or got close - these are "booties", almost like an over-sock or moccasin build). But he must have made them in so few numbers, when these popped up a few weeks ago, it was the first time I've ever seen them. Take a screenshot, because this is probably the only place you will ever see them. Laugh if you must, but, as plain and simple as it is, this is the type of item that keeps me still even in the game, and on the hunt. And the hunt continues...

Yeah, that Hi-Tech pullover is definitely a classic. I’m trying to figure out when they dropping the “Pesci” , a proper non Olympic “U.S.A.” 🙏🏿

You mean one like this?

If so, then I'm not sure. I don't believe this went into production, but I think we could see a USA Anorak in non-Olympic form. The people at Ralph are watching, and they know exactly what to release to move the profit margins up.

Seems like RL sizing is getting worse. I typically buy XXL and I have some jackets and sweaters that look baggy and others I can barely squeeze into and some that are perfect. Its like you gotta roll the dice with every piece. Pants and shorts are pretty consistent though

The vest looks SO much better IMHO!

Can you still see the "shadow" where the stiches were?

Most of the Hi Tech I remember from the 90's would be missed if you blinked.

Very few people realized Mary J Blige's jacket was Hi Tech in the Check it Out / Puba video

Had the same jacket and the only badge was inside the flap.

I have a XL cable knit thats cut like a slim fit large ... I don't know who does the sizing but it varies each year... My cable knits used to be a bit baggy in the midsection and cheat area but they are mad fitted now .

Vest: no shadow. You can't tell it was ever there. That is due to painstakingly patient removal, (props, me), and, (if need be,) after removal wash in cold. That relaxes the fabric where the stitches were back to natural, and that "hole shape" you are thinking of is as if it never was.

I will say this; you have to have a gut of steel to do this and go in being prepared to potentially ruin an item worth possibly $500.00. It may not work! Are you prepared for that? Ask yourself that before you mess with anything. I steeled my resolve a long time ago. Won most. Lost some.

Mary's jacket; It's actually a P2 Racing patch, and it was inside the flap. If you had it, that's the same jacket. But the low-key principle is the same - mad hidden. That whole video is Lo flooded, and the viewer had to know, to know.

figured with the topic at hand I would show something. Just a simple drop the hat in a bucket with 50/50 bleach and hot water.
