Haha great thread! SB heads are organized!
On the other hand, anyone heard the new Clinic album, Free Reign II?

Man, that took me a minute to decide, clicking back and forth between "Classic" and "Dope, but not a classic". Finally chose the latter, though even now I'm wanting to change my vote! lol. I guess if I'm that unsure about the decision, it's probably not. It's a crazy dope album, and even better now, to me, than it was back when it first dropped, so I definitely hold it in high regards. I think the fact that it sounds better to me now has to do with my growth in musical tastes, as well as my stronger appreciation for producing beats. The production on this album is what sets it apart from the other Wu albums from that period, in my opinion. I think the same could be said for a few of the albums, in fact all of the seminal "1st album" solo releases like "Liquid Swords", "Return to the 36", and "OB4CL"; each of those albums has its own sound to it, which makes them that much doper, and makes RZA the God that he is. The fact that he was able to give each album its own totally original soundbed, all on his own, is a testament to the skills he possesses. If he ain't top 5 in your book, you're not reading right! But back to Tical... while it's an amazing album and definitely one of the all-time Wu-Tang greats, I don't think it's on the level of a "36 Chambers", "Illmatic", "The Fix", "Stankonia", "Reasonable Doubt", "the Blueprint", "OB4CL(!!!)", etc., so calling it a classic would be doing a disservice to those albums. But that doesn't take anything away from that album. Maybe in 5 more years I'll feel differently. What's crazy to me is that "Liquid Swords" was always one of my Top 3 to 5 favorite albums back when I was younger, while Tical was maaaaybe Top 10 (on a good day), but now I'd rather listen to "Tical" before "Liquid Swords". I go through cycles, though, so it won't surprise me if I switch back to "Liquid Swords > Tical" in a few months...

BTW, great idea for this thread. It needed to be done. Hopefully I don't get stuck commenting in here for too many hours a day...

i don't understand how Tical and Classic could ever be mentioned in the same sentence.

the 2nd half of the album is subpar IMO...

and i really don't think Method Man sold out. someone had to make that Wu engine marketable

for those saying, "you dont need this" just post in the existing threads, ya'll dont understand the feeling of community amongst SB thread members...
