The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Just started FFX Remaster on Vita.

15 minutes in and it's already better than XV.

The worst part for me is that they are using the same mechanics for the FF7 remake..

I've been waiting patiently for this to happen and now I need to set my expectations very low smh

FFVII Re isn't using the same battle system.
You get to control Barret in the gameplay video and even the UI is different.

FFXV is centered around Noctis and the Armiger

XV battle system is the best part of the game imo. Turn on wait mode and your basically playing XII.

This.

Loved the battle system.
I Didn't use wait mode at all.

Thank you for that, I thought I read that the XV battle system was being implemented into FF7.

Looking for people to run with. Do you guys play terrorist hunt by any chance or just multiplayer? Either way, looking to run with a few people because none of my friends play this game.

PSN: KevinBruins

I'm mostly a multiplayer guy, mainly casual but I'm down to play ranked if i'm with a squad.

I'll add you later today, my psn id is in my signature

I only played ME1 way back then and it was kind of boring. I was younger so Imuch willing to give the new game a chance but I feel like we haven't got any real info on the game.

If you're not into Sci-Fi or space exploration than it may not be for you. Sometime, not matter how good the game is, it could still be a complete waste of time for you. Happened to me with Borderlands, just plain wasn't interested after I picked it up and gave it a few hours.

Nah, its boring. I played the first one too. I didn't hate it but I didn't want to play anymore after it either.

My day ones for this are the KH games and RDR2, TLOU2 and FF7R but I doubt any of those three get released this year.

Lowkey that FF7R screenshot look like what FF versus 13 was aiming for .....

replaying FF 13 right now and I appreciate the battle system much more after finishing XV

Kinda hard choosing which game to buy. I played the demo for ffxv it was cool but not full price cool lol.

What games yall playing? Any deals out?

Here's my thoughts on playing FFXV. no spoilers in it so if any of y'all wanna read it feel free to
I've never beaten a Final Fantasy game before but this game did impress me despite some glaring issues it has. everything from the music and graphics were top notch. If there was anything i knew SE would do right would, it would be the music and graphics. The whole world in the game is really well designed and i loved listening to the music in the game especially the battle themes those were some of my favorites. its nice that they also let you listen to other soundtracks of past FF games when you buy them at stores too. it makes sitting in the car more enjoyable lol.

I know many weren't feeling the combat too much but i liked the flow of it. the wait mode thing is kinda weird and magic system was weak too. i hated having to craft it constantly because it just took me out of the experience a lot. the dodging system is kinda weird as well, not the biggest fan of it and while the combat system was good it does get very hectic when fighting multiple enemies and keeping track of whats going on especially in tight areas but i did like the warp strikes and link strikes with your friends. i was never the biggest fan of turn based games which is why i never really got into the FF series but loved KH combat despite its own flaws. I'd like to see what SE is able to do in the next FF game if they decide to continue in this direction for the combat system.

My biggest gripe with the game was just how terrible the storytelling was. the pacing, tone, and how it is presented is just one huge mess imo. the biggest problem is because of two reasons. 1) the game doesnt show you many things that happens but just tells you instead which is a huge problem. I hate how some things just happen in the game off screen and I'm supposed to just say "oh okay" and go along with it. i want the game to SHOW ME. 2) The game expects you to know the background info on whats going on in the game which is pretty annoying because it doesnt explain anything so you have to watch the Brotherhood anime and the Kingslaive film to have a full grasp because the game doesnt tell you much. And even then the game does a bad job of presenting itself.

The game really suffers toward the end though. literally the last few chapters of the game are just so short and linear that they take a lot of enjoyment out of everything that the game has tried leading up. Chapter 13 in the game has got to be one of the worst things i have played this entire year with how boring and repetitive it all was. It was really a chore to go through and i struggled to play go through with it. the villain wasn't set up all that well either which was another problem with the game. the plot twists or reveals they have weren't all that great either and i didnt care all that much. i just had so many questions in the end but at lest the final chapter does go out on a high note. There is a great story in all of this mess which is why it bothers me so much but the direction for the story was really awful tho.

But the game really nails the friendship between Noctis and his friends tho. I genuinely cared for all of them and found them all to be interesting. The feeling of a big road trip between them is really well done with running around with them, driving, camping, and riding on chocobos. really good stuff that did make playing the game in the end feel worth it just to see what happens to them.

Another thing that i didnt like in the game was the overall boring and repetitive nature of the side missions. they were all very boring without adding much depth to the world besides slaying some monsters here and there and fetching items for people. but i will say that going around and doing the dungeons are definitely fun tho. i havent played all of them yet but so far i've really enjoyed them so far. The Witcher 3 really spoiled me in how amazing well they excelled in making all the side missions feel important in the game. I hope SE takes some notes from them in the future for their next titles if they try to make it even more open world than FFXV.

Overall despite my gripes with the story and side missions i did enjoy the game a lot. the game's charm really left a big impression and won me over in the end. I'm happy to finally have the game released and be able to play it at long last. Now i gotta find the time to try and play the other FF games

A couple days in on Destiny and although I like it I am realizing this is just a huge never ending loot game. The story feels pointless. But it's addictive.

For anyone that only played Mass Effect 1 and found it boring, I say go and play ME2. ME2 pushed the series to a more action based slant. So much fun.
