the thread about nothing...

I'm curious if not having a live audience plays into the psyche of these athletes. I know some events have fans watching, but could these indoor events being majority empty affect with getting the athletes' adrenaline?

I hate when people try too hard to not be racist….

my coworker across the hall was telling my other coworker to white something out . She said she can black it out with ink cause she doesn’t have whiteout

he said no white is better than black

Then he came across the hall to me and apologized and wanted to let me know he was talking about white out , not anything racial ….

fam I wasn’t thinking about that **** .

What Biles said were not mental health issues.

“Biles later said that she was dealing with a number of mental health issues, including an intense pressure to achieve perfection and fear of how she would be judged by the public at large.”

Thats just called being nervous..
Is being nervous a physical health problem?

How is anxiety NOT mental health?

Legit question.

NOT trying to argue just to argue.

Who are we to "rock with it?"

If that's what she said, that's what it is. (For now)
We are people with opinions. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm essentially asking do you agree with her view that these were "mental health" issues or do you think she had a snowflake moment? That's obvious (the intent of my question), ain't it?

It’s not that anxiety ISN’T mental health. If being nervous is anxiety, then we all have mental health issues.

There’s a difference between being anxious about something and having a legit anxiety disorder causing you panic attacks.

Did she actually have mental health issues causing her real harm to her health? I’m not sure, but my interpretation is that her reasoning is issues every athlete has to go through every day from their job.

If it isn't a physical issue then it falls under the wide umbrella of mental issues.

I am not going to belittle her reasoning because I have no idea what that warrior is going through.

I understand calling her a quitter but I ain't about to do that because her track record says otherwise.

Dealing with the sexual abuse from that USA Gymnastics team and STILL killing it for the last 5 years makes her Teflon to the point I would NEVER question her heart.

So whatever she says it is, is what it is.

Gotta have sympathy

Noones safe in this ultra-PC world

For all you know, someone else may have felt "uncomfortable" by the comment and said something to management/hr, even a white person

And athletes having to deal with it and still expected to perform says a lot about them. Especially those of her status.

It being common doesn't diminish the severity of it.

If she was too nervous to physically compete (only she can determine that), then who are we to dismiss/question it?

It is clearly a mental health situation.

In a general sense (not talking about said event) in regards to the individual being the only who can judge would be highly flawed. Just quickly thinking about it:
  1. there's a reason why we have specialists/experts
  2. the individual might be too close to the situation to accurately assess it

"In a specific sense"

1. We will NEVER hear from a specialist on S. Biles' personal affairs.

2. She would know better than any random dudes posting on a shoe chatline.

But sitting up here trying to figure out how VALID her excuse is just seems wildly pointless.

Why are we doing this?

Folks did the same thing with Osaka.

Why? And it is deeper than just "having an opinion."

Whites are paranoid to be called racists, and I did observe that from the inside
Because...it's illegal

Few years ago I said while with other Whites OCD is something more common in white community (whatever if I said #### or not, it's not the matter here), they were shocked because evoking color is a problem, they're not comfortable with it at all, at least those ones, the same that use "colored people" instead of Black, like if it was some handicap or something

I think too often people use moments as the full scope of a person. I'm not saying she is a quitter. As you pointed out, her success in life proves otherwise. Hut in this moment? Yeah, felt like she quit to me.

Saying colored in 2021 is insane lol

i work in an office with a plant attached. This Mexican lady from the plant asked my supervisor (white woman). Where I was . She didn’t know my name so she said young black guy (only black guy in the office, probably 1/2 black guys here period)

and my supervisor told the Spanish lady not to say black …. I’m like fam , I don’t care . That’s not disrespectful at all 😂. Stop overthinking this **** , just don’t call me a *****
