Need help TAN.

Any way I try to simplify the question leaves out a lot of context, but I'm not trying to get too deep into the details.

Im probably (probably) overpaid for my current role...its a breeze. And I'm off super early in the day allowing me to be present for my family (and for me).

Offer for the new role isnt the number i wanted...and they're not budging. But its not that far off from the number that would have gotten me to say yes. More direct reports. More stressful situations. Working later in the day so won't be as present for my family. Its a hybrid position so I most likely won't be going into an office on Monday's and Fridays.

With all thar said, would yall turn down a role due to a 3 percent disagreement in salary?

I feel like I'd be petty as hell to turn down the opportunity over 3 percent. But I feel like they're being petty as hell for not budging off their offer.

Instead of asking us if we mind the 3%, ask your family if they mind you spending less time with them.

Other than the salary, are the rest of the benefits what you’re looking for?

Weigh the pros and cons of both jobs.

What do you currently do after work and are you ready to give that up?

Do you want the responsibility of having people under you?

Which position would let you rock the Olympic 7s on a non-casual Friday?

For sure. We've had those conversations. Again, not trying to get too deep into details, but we're not talking missing a ton of time going forward. But all time is precious, especially at my kids current ages.

My current role, I take them to their extra curricular activities. In the new role, I'd be showing up to them, if that makes sense? Either way, my family has accepted this possibility. Its more so a question of i feel this was worth X, and am contemplating taking less than that. The less than is only 3 percent, but its still not the value I believe it to be.

Appreciate the response.

Way more cons with the new position, but comes with a much needed pay raise.

I play single dad. And still would for the most part. Would just have to be available for the potential of more work calls post 3 p.m...that 3 - 5 time range, get kids home, get situated, etc...that will be the adjustment. And only a huge adjustment for 2 - 3 days a week when ill be in the office.

Do you want the responsibility of having people under you?
Already there...more reports though, which is part of the reason why I'm stuck on the value of me in that role.

Boff'um.

Work anniversary today. 20 yrs!

Congrats! :pimp: I'm half way from where you're at. I just hit my 10 years a couple weeks ago..

😮‍💨🤔 what y’all doing w/this type job security?

since you seem to think you’re overpaid, surely the folk paying are already aware this is the case &/or may eventually come to that realization such that this would be the move to make regardless, but if your current job/title security isn’t on the wood it seems the only considerations are is the bump in pay worth the increased responsibility, stress & time away from/with fam? if not, it probably does make sense to put a premium on the number to make it overly worth trade offs because it seems like you are kinda pursuing this begrudgingly 🤷🏿‍♂️

Appreciate the response. You smacking that nail with the hammer.

So, if it were you and the decision was put a premium on the role, and they came up 3 percent short on that premium, you saying nah, yall can keep it? Even if that pay increase was sorely needed?

how much i’m standing on it, since i’m already knowing i’m overpaid & it is kinda lightwork, would ultimately be dependent on if i think my current job may eventually be on the line (and/or how easy i could get a similar role elsewhere in this job market), which could be part of the motivation for the offer…if the pay raise is sorely needed, is 3% really that much of a difference? if you’re feeling froggy enough to stay negotiating, you could try shooting for (an)other perk(s) to make up for the difference

I hate the bassline to What's Love Got To Do With It. I'm traumatized by it because at my old old crib my upstairs neighbors would overplayed it
