I’ve never been into watches but I’ve always thought if I were to get one I’d get one just like this style.
Is this something I could buy and expect to hold its value? and I could get most of my money back if I ever decided to sell it?

That’s the same watch my dad passed down to me from my birth year, except on a jubilee bracelet. It’s nice, but small (34mm case) by today’s standards.

This is a vintage Oyster Perpetual Date - a great vintage Rolex. As someone else mentioned, it’s 34mm which will feel small by modern standards but is a very classic look.
I’d recommend looking at a reputable vintage dealer as it’s more likely to find one that’s been recently serviced and in good condition. It’ll roughly hold its retail value but because it’s the type of watch you’d likely buy through a vintage dealer, you’d lose a fair amount of money selling it back.

That No. 6 retrograde is sweet. I think it won a GPHG a year or two ago if I remember right. Super cool watches but basically impossible to get at retail - they’re only sold in Japan and through a lottery system. I’ve seen one or two pop up for resale but at over 100% premium.

7.5 retailed for around $2100 (352k JPY at the time). I think the No. 6 was around $3k.
The new No. 9 this year goes crazy with a tourbillon and sonnerie au passage but I think is pushing $100k now?!

Something about the 12 reference makes it look so much more refined than the previous 11 model.
Now I just need to somehow justify dropping that much on a stainless steel watch.

I like the bezel on the 126 reference but I like the sub dials on the 116 better.

Well that escalated quickly, forgot I had a pre-ceramic Daytona I've worn maybe once and managed to trade it in for a new Panda for a decent deal.

Few people notice it but the pre 12 series had an asymmetrical case. The lugs on the crown side are slimmer than the other (opposite of the speedmaster). This combined with the adjustments made to the surrounds of the chrono registers and steel cased ceramic may contribute to the overall feeling of refinement.

Tried on the green sea master on the rubber. I thought 42mm would be too big but I think it looks fine.
Thinking about pulling the trigger. I been wanting a green watch for a while and I prefer the seaweed green over the starbucks submariner

I’ve always liked the look (and feel) of a diver on rubber. I just picked up this BB58 recently and put it on a rubber strap and I’m not sure if I’ll ever put it back on the bracelet now.

Just the lighting - it’s the standard blue dial/blue bezel BB58. I really dig this shade of blue tho.
I wear watches on leather straps probably 75% of the time (work in an office and wear dress clothes); I prefer the lighter weight and comfort of a rubber strap over a bracelet, but a high quality bracelet can look amazing (for instance the Royal Oak bracelet is stunning in person and even the CW Twelve bracelet is beautiful imo).
