The Timepiece Thread vol: READ THE 1st POST!!!

It's always good to hear the perspective of someone starting out. It seems like you've got some really good watches in mind.

I've been into watches in varying degrees for about 30 years now and your taste what you like can vary so much. At one point I used to wear this....

owning a chronograph would be so cool, that one looks sick. definitely plan to slowly be building my collection i’ve really enjoyed the Kamasu so far

Yeah that isn't my style anymore, the times that I wore it, it felt like a plate on my wrist 😅.

I went through a fashion watch stage in my late teens and early 20s had untold Nike Triax, Diesel and D&G watches which still have sentimental value.

Taste does change and evolve through your time collecting. Orient offer great value now arguably even more so than Seiko do now so it's a good place to start your collection.

Here's some of my collection

The watch box was a steal on Amazon as I was considering getting a Rothwell but this one was great value for the price.

Feels like the red carpet is the only place we’ll see that two tone Piaget Polo. It looks cool but the price is absurd and idk who is actually buying that.

the two-tone just released but i have seen the wg and yg versions last year so you’d be surprised

and this new AP jumping hour looks great

I have a couple of questions

Was this a street robbery? If so why didn't he have a security detail with him? His profile would definitely make him more visible to potential thieves.

If this was a burglary and the flat is worth £35 million why was there no security or consierge service to protect the property? Was the property left unattended?

Now in a perfect world none of this would be necessary and we could wear our timepieces openly with no threat of approach but this simply isn't the case.

London has a reputation of being a den of thieves but it really isn't the case. As with any city there are dangers, but if you move correctly you can reduce the risks significantly.

London and SF robberies have been in broad daylight.

Really doesn’t matter how correct you move.

Both cities are a **** hole imo

You're entitled to your opinion. Have you ever been in London for anything longer than a holiday?

In a lot of the videos I've seen the victims wrists are clearly visible to the public and are impaired (leaving pubs and bars) alone.

Respectfully I've lived in London all of my life. I've worn a Rolex Submariner 10+ years as a daily, lived in one of the most notorious areas in London for much of this time. Not only this but I travel in and out of central London where most of these videos are being taken and have never encountered any issues.

Stayed there for 6 weeks for a class when I was abroad. Most of the videos I've seen are in broad daylight.

But yes, being intoxicated and alone at night, in any major city you'd be a target.

when I was in London for vacation there was a sign from a police truck or something that said (forgot the exact verbage) to wear long sleeves and hide your watches.

It’s scary how expensive the Santos medium has got/is getting

I got my 2024 used for under 6k.

Now it retails for basically 8k and used is between 6.5k - 7k
