So why doesn't the U.S. help them?

most likely because it isn't profitable to the US. The US talks all that BS about intervening because of  some humanitarian reason, but at the end of the day its all about whats in it for the US

They walked into Iraq and dropped billons a year, killed their leader, took some of their oil and killed thousands of  inocent people.  Liberia was founded by free black  AMERICAN slaves. Minus the rubber, Liberia doesn't offer much to America in their opinion if they invested more time and money in Lib, things would def be better. At one point there was talks of a US base in Liberia but talks have stopped.

What you're saying makes too much sense to do though. Its easier to "fix" others problems at times.

Hold for a sec, not meaning to spark anti us stuff, but do understand when America really cares and can help, they will. They are helping tons of places out there survive. Countries that totally depending on America. It is just when they do non sense like going in the middle east thinking they can tell people what to do because they have the power.Sometimes they are big bullies.

And considering that Liberia shares so many close relation to America(as I said founded by FREE AMERICAN SLAVES) it should at least be considered a territory.
