Thoughts on the confederate flag

I think it's actually aged perfectly
lol That photo was someones reply to someone saying "This I've never met anyone of intelligence who wears that flag..ever!" But yeah, w/o context it completely aligns w/ who he is now. It's astonishing how someone who's parent took part in sit-ins (that rapped about along w/ many other black struggles in the states) could end up w/o the belief system he has today.

I can see what Ninja is saying. I think he is saying that it is a greater awareness (by the masses) in 2019 of the evils of the flag.

That is what I took from what he said.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

that, and people's general indifference to it away from da south, and their neo repurposing of it to represent da south shorthand.

not that hard to comprehend.

nah, he is saying it’s just a southern regional symbol. I don’t remember seeing him say anything about the greater evils of the flag

no one really had that energy for it up until Charleston happened.
it was just there as a "souf" regional thing.

Come out to AZ one day and I’ll give you a tour. Plenty energy for it all around here

Ppl have trying to get that flag removed since 2000 and probably earlier. Had u googled this instead searching for photos of rappers to coax to ur agenda then u would know so. Organizations have opted out of doing business w/ South Carolina as a whole because cretinous state legislators would refused to remove that racist flag. Yes. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN CARING, but the SC State Government didn't care that ppl cared until THANKFULLY pressure nationally was applied to them after that terrorist bozo MURDERED the 9 innocent church under the guise (heritage) and belief system (racism) that goes along w/ the confederate flag.

Dawg I don't if you're a afro Dominican or white a Dominican, and honestly i hope you're the latter b/c if u look like me then you fit into the mold of this unflattering self-hating bigot stereotype that stigmatizes the people that come from DR that I personally be trying to defend.

I seriously thought u were trolling until i read this whole damn thread b/c the ignorance you've displayed in these last few pages along that resemble a parody skit. The confederate flag wack, crap, dumb, ignorant, treasonous, and racist. you ask the the average person what that flag means and they'll associate it w/ being racist.

Just the other day in the wrestling thread informed that saying "****" to describe Japanese people is some wild fu fu bigot sh*t to say. I did my googles & I am done w/ that word. I was using it the I would use "brits," but what it meant to me compared to everyone else isn't something to be argued against. It doesn't matter what it means to me; it matters what it means to the Japanese ppl, and to them "****" is racist. I'd be a bozo still throwing that world around after finding out how it's perceived, and the same goes for people defending the confederate flag.

He just feels like that because he doesnt leave his borough. He doesnt speak for black ppl at all period in or out of Manhattan and he def doesnt speak for black ppl in particular in the south.

Idgaf what artist did what there is no new awareness from black ppl in 2019 for this flag. Period.

**** this flag and **** that **** mentality ppl push. Educate yourselves. Knowledge is a good thing. Embrace it instead of running away from it and relying on source magazine pics and ****. Talk to ppl offline. Actually travel.

Sometimes ppl should log offline and leave the region.

you didn't answer my question, so ill ask it again. why did it take Charleston for SC to take down da flag? simple.
Because like we've been telling you for years, white ppl dont give a **** about black ppl or our feelings.
The powers that be care about money. Simple to understand. If you want to understand. If you choose to understand. Once it was evident the media was on our side for a story and they werent going away the momentum shifted.

But don't get it twisted SC and the rest of the country still don't give a **** about black ppl.

nah, he is saying it’s just a southern regional symbol. I don’t remember seeing him say anything about the greater evils of the flag

does da obvious have to be stated? :lol

my point was centered on its contemporary usage between da 80s and da time right before Charleston.

Not really going to bash him or his personal life but I can very well see the perspective of it being more of a UNANIMOUS discussion point in 2019 vs. where it was 10 years ago due to how much it has been pushed in Social Media and the News.

I am not saying it was NOTHING before but I simply understand why someone would view it mattering more now, to a larger number of people.

I live in Charlotte and traveling through sc to and from Charleston I've seen Klan signs attempting to recruit new members.
In myrtle beach I've seen ppl fly or wear Confederate flags in certain places. When you enter said places as a black person you get looked at like an alien.
Parts of NC once you leave Charlotte just like a lot of SC is trump country and they make it known.

I think ppl that dont regularly see **** like that and that are living comfortably need to educate themselves before they make ridiculous comments about ppl giving more energy to this old tired issue now than they did back in the day. Ppl died over being in the wrong place. Ppl still get shot at and cursed at etc.

Since I moved down south I've had trash thrown at me while i was walking by someone in a speeding car. I've been called a ******* ******...I've been called ****** a few times actually. I've gotten stares, ppl locking car doors, ladies on elevators clutching bags which i thought was some TV ****, etc.

And ive def been to areas with that flag where they treat you like ****.

I remember I dated this girl down here and was walking with her 4 year old daughter at the time from the car to Walmart and some white person tried to speed up and hit us in the parking lot.

There are hateful ppl everywhere tho and I'm not trying to say that the south has a monopoly on hatred towards black ppl...you can get ****ted on in NYC and I def have stories dealing with ******** in queens too but yeah, anyone sitting comfortably in Manhattan trying to push this idea that nobody cared about the flag or whatever until recently is ********.

I've talked to older ppl in the south and came with my own ignorant NYC **** and got corrected. Some ppl risked their lives being vocal and not putting up with it even back in the day.

His initial quote spoke on people taking it more seriously today than before.

bingo.
He just feels like that because he doesnt leave his borough

dukes of Hazzard was a nationally televised show with many seasons, and spawned a movie which was also a national release. at one point it was a national phenomenon, and da General Lee is still one of da most heralded movie cars in show business. your point is irrelevant and moot.

da point is soooooo simple.

There are hateful ppl everywhere tho and I'm not trying to say that the south has a monopoly on hatred towards black ppl...you can get ****ted on in NYC and I def have stories dealing with bull**** in queens too but yeah, anyone sitting comfortably in Manhattan trying to push this idea that nobody cared about the flag or whatever until recently is bull****.

I've talked to older ppl in the south and came with my own ignorant NYC **** and got corrected. Some ppl risked their lives being vocal and not putting up with it even back in the day.

Well said.

Perspective needs to be valued when we are having these conversations.

Someone from the South will probably have a different outlook on the topic than someone from New York.

Respect to everything you said, you are 100% correct.

The only thing that changed is the media kept pushing the issue. Black ppl been vocal about the flag. Period. End of discussion.

White ppl have been on some it's my heritage ******** since long before the media pushed stories about how the flag should come down. Period. End of discussion.

Ppl living outside of southern states may not understand this. The history is a lil different so I can understand the ignorance. You're wrong tho if what you believe is different than what I said above. I dont care how you feel about it either.

You know how many state flags had the Confederate flag in them or some sort of ode to the confederacy and how many black ppl hated it but had to live with it?

I dunno how many ppl here truly understand white supremacy and the breaking of black ppl and how white ppl in general seem to want to put black ppl in their place whatever place that's supposed to be.

Had u googled this instead searching for photos of rappers to coax to ur agenda

basically saying "look at these facts over here but don't look at these other facts over there"

I don't care about da rebel flag to have an agenda about it. it's basically a glorified NASCAR sticker to me that sits on top of a 69 charger...

I dont give 15 ****s about dukes of hazzard or whatever other ******** you're saying ninja We're talking about real life son. Yo you got bread. Travel. Log off and get out there.

Now personally I dont want you to find out quickly just how black you are from some ******** you might end up seeing or dealing with down here, I just want you to see life from a different perspective within the u.s.

Everyone doesnt think the same or feel the same way as you. You're not going to get that from Manhattan. You think you know but you wont truly know til you come down here and spend some time. Ask questions and get answers from ppl that live differently than you.

Someone from the South will probably have a different outlook on the topic than someone from New York

what you wont to hear him say is reasoning for embrace that flag by southern artist all the way up to Charleston.
because if we're talking about perspective I want to know da reasoning as to why black people in da South would wear da flag as memorabilia or a fashion statement or something that represents their region.

instead of just dancing around those facts, why don't you just answer da question.

The fact that son keeps talking about a damn TV show and just ****ted on what I said which was based on facts as well as my own personal experiences is wild to me.

But it makes perfect sense. It puts things into perspective about how he sees certain social issues and why a lot of us cant get through to him.

I dont give 15 ****s about dukes of hazzard or whatever other bull**** you're saying ninja We're talking about real life son

but guess what I don't care about none of your ish either cuz
you can't answer simple questions.

DCAllAfrican DCAllAfrican see what I'm talkin about? you press someone on facts that are not convenient and all of a sudden people get in their feelings and want to get disrespectful.

I'm asking a simple question, why were black artist in da south embracing da flag in contemporary times before Charleston.

You could have asked me directly and I would have answered directly.

To be clear, it's the same reason we keep telling you in thread after thread.

-indoctrination
-brainwashing
-lack of knowledge of self
-seeking acceptance from oppressors
-white comfortability
-ignorance

And in the cases of ppl like wsg and others
-shock value

This **** isnt new. Nothing has changed.

The fact that son keeps talking about a damn TV show

you're going to ignore that dukes of Hazzard was a national phenomenon?
I'm going to force that point of recognition that before this conversation goes forward.
