Ghostface and Doom just rhyme. They don't need gimmicks.(well, i guess the mask is a gimmick in a sense.) So yeah, that's why people prefer them over pac.

Doom wears the mask to cut out all the commercialism and "image" that is associated with the industry. It's a statement, rather than a gimmick.
