I don't think people mean that you should disassemble your phone. Take out the back cover, battery and put the phone in a bag of rice. That way the moisture has a better chance of getting dried up with battery/back cover off.

Yeah, I agree on the bowl of rice. I should have done this with my phone when it got soaked but it was beyond damaged. But it's worked for pretty much everyone I've known.
