My warranty ran out last year, and I can't do anything to revive it from 3RROD. I don't really feel like paying the $100 to get it repaired byMicrosoft. What can I do?

well you dont want to repair it. . And you cant play it unless its repaired. . So throw it away, or sell it to someone who wants a xbox 360 and is willing topay to get it repaired.
