Man my first car was a Audi A6 passed down to me cause of a death in the family. It asked for 91 but I was 17 working 12hrs a week paying for my own gas and trust, that extra $0.30 on the gallon hurt so I'd only fill up with 87. 18 months later the engine was wrecked.Originally Posted by voodoo

I hope you don't plan on keeping that car very long. It still runs "awesome" because the computer has adjusted the timing to help get rid of some of the knocking.
If you can't afford premium fuel, why purchase a car that requires it? You can't afford the fuel, but you can afford an engine repair bill? Also if the car is new... kiss that warranty goodbye.
