What was life like in the 90s? Vol. Old heads chime in

Thing is there's no going back to simpler times.

How many of us would give up some of the things we have now to go back? Can most people even last a day without high speed internet? I'd love to go back to the 90s in a time machine, but only if you erase my memory first before you send me.

I feel like the 16 bit era was games was better than current gen games. They try too hard now. It’s funny watching these YouTuber complain about perms-deaths and having to start over after dying. If you put that in your game now, without it being some type of plot device, instant bad review.

@getback

All TGIF shows are on HULU. I have been going through them.

Family @matters7 ; Full House; Hanging with Mr. Cooper; Step by Step

Saved by the Bell on Saturday Mornings. Baywtch and American Gladiators.

My brain only allows me to watch old shows during the time in which they came on when I was younger.

Stuff definitely holds up as well.

Niketown was the coolest store ever. Bo Knows plastered billboards, Agassi and fab 5 memes on the walls like you were in some theater :nthat:

I remember my mom took me and some classmates from middle school to the grand opening of Niketown San Francisco. I was so hyped I could not sleep the night before. The “shoe tubes” were so cool to me lol. I ended up getting a part time job there years later. Planet Hollywood was just down the block and we went to eat after. I remember seeing Jimmy Hart and Booker T 😂 sitting by us. Damn man I miss the 90’s.

that whole area was amazing FAO Schwarz, Virgin Megastore, woolworths

It bothers me seeing SO many empty basketball courts in the modern era. Courts used to stay packed when I was growing up, now people don't really hoop outside like that.
gyms are better though and i think it's part of the reason players have longer careers now
concrete is terrible for the joints

unless you meant kids just don't play anymore period

Family Matters did not age well IMO. Sooo cringe. I don’t understand how I used to LOVE that show.
I watched a few episodes and the humor is on point but the acting was a little forced and the overall feel was kinda cringe.

All these perfornance enhancers werent mainstream yet. Viagra/Cialis was marketed primarily to dudes in their late 40s. Gas Station D pills didnt exist.

If you tried to suck a girls toes back in the 90s you'd instantly have the  face from all the saltiness. Moisture wicking socks hadnt made it into the market yet. Its not like today where all the shoes are super light weight and have ventilation systems built into the design.

Kind of interesting to look at what people perceived to be "healthy". Nobody was eating avocados or Kale. No cranberry pomegranate acai berry juice available. No kombucha, green tea. People were still drinking coffees from McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts. Panera and Starbucks werent even on the radar. There was no energy drinks on the market, fools drank Mountain Dew and Dr Pepper on a regular basis.

yeah man I remember those spots... I miss First Step and Copeland’s...
think there was a Foot Action/Just for Feet too.
i remember going in there buying the cheapest socks just to get my free And1 video tape

Some coworkers and I were just talking about this Friday. Kids used to go outside and be OUT. Whole adventures took place. One of them was saying it was safer back then. It really wasn’t. We just didn’t have 4896269931690521 news outlets reporting any and everything violent, trying to scare you into staying in and watching them.
man we would be exploring the neighborhood just outside finding stuff to do or see
**** OP why don't you tell us, talking like you 18 or something.
wish i could bud, im 28 and dont remember much
remember some late 90s stuff where everyone in my apt complex came outside and we played in the park all day
but then i remember when video games got poppin less people came outside
but i was just a kid, i was curious how life was for the folks who were in their teens or 20s during that time.

I don't remember trans fats becoming demonized until the 21st century. eating a lot of bread wasn't considered unhealthy at all, wheat bread was thought of as a very healthy food.

Video games were a big deal in the 90s.

You had to go over to somebody's house to play with each other though. There was no Madden online or Call of Duty. I suppose online play existed towards the latter half of the decade, but some of those games like Quake were not as mainstream like they are now.
