I guess because it's an easy and selfish way out. Most of the time they have a lot of people who love and care for them. It affects the people they leave behind more than they will ever know.

Because it hurts others. It's selfish... there are millions of people who strive to stay alive in this world...
There are other ways of relieving pain, some just let depression overcome them. We all have the mental capacity to defeat emotions...

It's a waste of a life. Often the person committing suicide has it much better off than many others in this world.

It's also selfish for wanting somebody to live through w/e their pain is. Depression is different for everybody, not everybody can live with popping happy pills and seeing a therapist.
