[::WORLD CHAMPION LAKERS OFF-SEASON THREAD: 2 Weeks Away From Pre-Season::]

I want to see the Lakers go after Shaun Livingston. He has the size that Phil usually likes in PGs. I'm sure there's concerns with his knee, but he looked as explosive as ever with his play this past season. He still can't shoot but the Lakers can improve his shot like they did with Trevor Ariza and Shannon Brown.

Raja Bell isnt the same defensive player he was 4 years ago, though. Dude has aged tremendously, and he has been having injury problems all throughout the last couple years. If Laker fans are complaining about Andrew's health issues theyll just have a field day with Raja

Not a good idea at all imo.
I do agree we need all the hard nosed people we can get our hands on, but we cant look desperate. We should target players who can actually contribute to the 82 game season and someone washed up like Bell just cant do that.

Bell, is far from washed up...

imo, Puke needs more PT. He may be terrible at times, but once hes in his groove, he'll def. make some solid contributions.

I know lots of people don't like him but when he is more than capable of a productive player and I think he'll show it again.

well it is his contract year again

Well maybe not so literally, he has been in the league for 9 seasons...i know thats not washed up territory, but he has obviously slowed down quite a bit the last 2 seasons. Of course the injuries arent his fault, but they dont help either. He may still have a little left in the tank but imo i just dont see it being a valuable enough tank to contribute consistently for our team. Id love for us to go after Mike Miller hard, see if he'll take the midlevel and go from there.

The problem with Luke is that the Lakers can't even be sure he'll suit up for games, let alone contribute. He's missed 17 and 53 games the last two seasons because of various injuries.

I've always been a Mike Miller fan, but he's slowed down the last two seasons due to injury and not shooting enough. He's tried to be an all around glue guy which is admirable, but he's regressed and is 30 already.

The main 7-8 rotation players are already on the team. Sign a veteran to back up Bynum, a young back up PG, maybe another swing man to go along with the two second round picks in the Draft and they'll be fine.

Along with the backup bigs L.A. needs, they also need help on the perimeter.

I pray they get a knockdown shooter, because once u get past Kobe & Fish everyone else is/was a liability...(Sasha????)

Someone do me a favor and track free throw numbers for the Lakers during Kobes 5 "championship" runs.

It wasn't too exciting
to see the Fakers shoot foul shots the whole fourth quarter during game 7.

Nah, not anymore ^  This game play tactic has been going on for 25 years, I'm used to it.

The NBA is almost WWE, but wrestling is easier to watch.

I think that Matt Barnes would be a solid addition to the lakers bench. If we can add him, and possibly draft a PG with size and a jumper we'll be good for next season.

Lets not forget Chris Bosh

so what your saying is that A. You are mad because the lakers are true champions again AND B. You rather watch men in underwear than pro basketball?? Gotcha!

Matt barnes does EVERTHING that james posey did for that boston team in 2008, imo if we have a chance to go out and get a guy like that for the MLE that'd be nice......that + we use the vets minimum on a serviceable bigman, and then draft a gaurd who (we plan on keeping) to try and develop

That's someone I wouldn't mind having on the team.

Stick to it then.

If we could get Mike Miller, and have him come off the bench with LO, that would be good! Mike can do a bit of playmaking as well and is a decent defender. Obviously will stretch the D with his shot, which should hopefully open up the floor for LO to create opportunities.

I wanna keep Shannon Brown. Mad inconsistent, but came up big in the 1st 2 rounds especially in the clinching games. If he continues to work on his J and D, and doesn't demand an outrageous contract (i.e. MLE), why not? He'll be in Year 3 of the triangle and with another year of Playoff experience in his belt.

Also what time are yall planning to get there?

Barnes for the MLE is wayyyy too much money. You guys see him in Orlando's playoff run this past year? he sucked and couldnt hit a shot to save his life.

Also, NO to Bell. Im sick of the Lakers always coming up on players that are a year or two past their playign days (think: Mitch Richmond, Tracy Murray, Byron Russell, JR Rider) It doest work. He'll come here and we'll see first hand what injuries can do to players.

We need someone young and quick. We need to pull off another Ariza type of move and get someone with potential, not someone who use to play really well now dealing with injuries etc.

I wanted to post a comment that I saw on a Facebook status, but gay mother nature caused my internet to stop working over the weekend. Plus I was gone for the weekend and just got back. Can't find what they said now to copy and paste but I remembered what it said so I'm gonna write it now.....

The Facebook status said "yep, I'm done with the NBA". And the girl replied "it's ok, the celtics have won more championships than any other team. That's no record that Kobe can break."

Yep, if Kobe wins 2 more championships, they won't count against Boston's record.

i've been telling people that unless you were born prior to 1970, the Lakers are the most successful team in professional sports.  11 titles in the modern era, 1970-present. that's 4 more then the closest team to them,  the Yankees.
