I understand your point about the past, but you have to think currently. It is not currently the AL West, it is the AL Central. That division is loaded with garbage and one team will be lucky enough to get a spot in the Playoffs by default.

As of RIGHT NOW on paper the angels aren't anything to brag about in the AL West.

The Rangers and mariners are very solid.

I have no clue what the A's are doing so I'd go with either the AL West or AL Central.

This is just on paper, I'm sure there will be surprises and maybe the A's and Royals win 80+ games. That's why i love baseball

What does anything the Rangers have done in the past have to do with what they are right now? What does the A's giving away talent in the past have anything to do with the load of young talent they have right now? What does the Mariners past have anything to do with what they are right now?

The Central is the weakest division in the NL.

How can you call that division a dog fight?  The Cards went up 10 games in August and never looked back.

The Cubs imploded last year, the Brewers never really challenged and didn't even finish with a .500 record, the Reds, Astros and Pirates were all garbage last season.

On top of that, the Cubs didn't really improve (*not many teams did this season if you look around, except for the Mariners), the Brewers biggest addition is Randy Wolf, which could blow up in their face (Breakout year in his mid 30's and always injury prone ), the Reds, Astros and Pirates don't look dramatically improved either.

I just don't see how the AL West is the weakest coming into this season with the Angels still being competitive, the Rangers will reap the benefits of that farm system much like we did in 2008, and the M's are easily the most improved team in baseball.

Don't give me that bs about "right now", it's February  and every team is only able to be judged on paper. These conversations can only be truly observed at the end of a season. Let's face it Mariners & Rangers fans, your teams haven't been relevant in the last decade. How many playoff games have either one of you guys won in the 2000's? The Mariners won 4 playoff games in the entire decade, that's definitely a solid club

I don't think the AL Central is the weakest division because the Twins, White Sox and Tigers all have been all competitive recently. I am not talking about 1 single season, I am talking about overall in recent history. The Twins haven't been to the World Series, however they are always in a fight for their division. The White Sox won the world Series and the Tigers appeared in the World Series. Yes the Royals are the divisions weak link, but there always seems to be 1 in each division.

ooIRON MANoo you're entitled to your opinion, but I personally feel the NL West isn't stronger than the Central, it's about even. This year will tell a new tale of who the weakest division in all of baseball is. In the recent decade is what I based my opinion off of.

The Rangers have a pretty good offense, but their success will be based on Rich Harden staying healthy and Scott Feldman proving last year wasnt a fluke. I wouldnt hold my breath on either of those two.

And the Mariners? Very good 1-2 in the rotation. Doesnt mean the team is good. The offense isnt very good.

If all things come together for both teams, I will be eating my words. I wouldnt count on it though.

You guys are just off. M's have one of the best defenses in baseball. A solid rotation. Rangers have a balanced club.

You're absolutely right, baseball isn't a sport about history. Baseball isn't a sport when you accumulate past seasons (recent may I add too) to form the true definition of what defines a sold team. This has nothing to do with a team that I put on a chopping block being your favorite team. This has everything to do with I sound like a guy who doesn't know sports.
