:::OFFICIAL SNEAKER CARE/MAINTENANCE POST::: (It's back!)

I'm not sure this is a care and maintenance question, but recommended that I post here to see what I get.

So I bought a pair of b grades from the Nike outlet and didn't notice the flaw until I got home. I was debating taking them back before my receipt expires, but I'd like to "fix" them instead. So anyone with any ideas, I would appreciate it.

The gold coating on the eyelet on my taxi 12 was messed up. I thought it was glue, but it wasn't. It started like this

I don't have any experience with Angelus paint or painting on shiny surfaces, or painting shoes in general. Recommendations for a somewhat lasting fix? ...besides taking them back? LOL. tia

you can use a metallic spray paint from the home depot, since those eyelets are plastic compared to og's, you can use paint for plastic...becareful because its a small area.

The eyelet itself is plastic, I'm not so sure about this shiny silver metallic coating and whether it will hold paint. What about color match? Any idea what store brand is closest to that dull gold finish?

you could finely sand it down, and honesly no sorry. just go to home depot theyll give you a piece of paper to test the different paint

I feel bad asking so many questions but how do you fix an "I" on the back of the "Nike AIR" one of the "I's" fell off while taking the midsole apart of my wc4s I was thinking of getting putty and making an "I" then glueing it & painting it any suggestions?

Hey guys, im never cleaned shoes before but i recently started having a hobby of getting fixable shoe and restoring them and wearing them.

I got a few columbia 11's and cool grey 11s and cool grey 5s and burgandy 5s.

I got jason marxx just in toda and MGK shoe cleaner and honey leather lotion and cleaner to clean my low tiffanys which was pretty beat up but came out nice.

I know the patent leather is different material so any idea how i can make the upper REALY white and clean... and can i iron patent leather same way i can oron other creases out of the shoe with wet towel and iron method?

Any help would be great.

Also any other products that is good to clean the uppers and leather and suede? Never tried jason marxx since it jsut came today but i tried MGK and it wasnt so great taking the dirt off the upper soft part..

Should I use the Angelus cement 4 paint they have made or buy a grey & white because if the grey is too dark I can light it out with some of the white?[/quote]that shade of cement grey matches up to the 2012 version and og version of white cement iv's. You're gonna have to get dark grey and white angelus paint to mix together to get the proper shade to match the '99s. What I suggest is to save some of the midsole you've removed while doing the sole swap with the cement color on it. Mix the grey and white paints together to get the proper shade and put some of the paint on top of the crumbled midsole with the cement colorway. Let it dry and see if the color matches. If it's not a match, you can figure out if you need to make it darker or lighter. The paint might look like the right shade when you apply it but it will dry out to a different shade.

I've been using salon care 40 to ice these up, but the outsole is starting to feel like hard plastic instead of a soft rubber. Anyone else had this problem?

Looks good though...how many hours did it take sitting outside?

I actually used an overhead lamp in my room because it was winter. Now that it starting to warm up I'm going to be using the outdoor method more. I think in total it took around 30 hours to get them like that.

Hard plastic rather than soft rubber... I know some people get something like that with SeaGlow... Hard candy effect, it's called. You lose your traction once that happens, if I'm not mistaken.

Ive done about 4 pairs of shoes on retobright and i havent lost any traction. However on surfaces that i dont want to be restored, best practice is the use either duct tape or some paintsers tape to cover it so if there's spills its not the end of the world. when using any of the methods you will see a bluest tint that will go away after rinse down of the shoe..
