F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

What RBR's doing right now is exactly why McLaren don't want Honda supplying to other teams, especially RBR...

“Explain to them I was full lock on the steering wheel and he moved under braking, that was the problem,” Rosberg told his team over the radio.

Horner after the race:

“The problem is [Rosberg] did a pretty bad job of it,” Horner told  Sky Sports F1.

“The golden rule in a job like that is lock your fronts up and look as if you can’t stop. The problem is he looked like he was driving to Cologne, and that’s a bit naughty.

And Verstappen said:

“I opened up and he didn’t turn in and I had to go straight and I had to go off track otherwise we would have crashed, Lewis knows.

Best part is "Lewis knows"

Did you guys see Ant's post-race analysis?  I thought it was pretty fair and spot-on.

Also...

"It was a stopwatch failure. The damn thing failed, it didn't function like it should have done."

You just know had that had happened to Lewis... the fanboys would have gone nuts!

Ferrari is barely doing anything right at the moment.

Right now my prediction for next season is, that McLaren and Renault will both be in front of Ferrari.
McLaren is getting better and better.
And Renault has already stopped the development of this seasons car and is completely focussed on next year.

You can tell when Vettel said Negative that he's just not happy.

He's unhappiness with Blue Flags makes me laugh though

Pretty easy job for Lewis today :pimp:  Very important to increase the gap to Nico, because of the engine penalty for Lewis in Spa.

Nico had huge problems today. His pace was just not good enough.
I did not expect Red Bull to be that close to Mercedes on this circuit, because it suits better to the Mercedes car, while the layout in Hungary was better for Red Bull.

Unfortunately Red Bull won't receive the new Renault engine before the GP in Japan. But  from that race on the competition at the top will be even closer.

Were Red Bull close though?
I don't know if Nico is setting up his car for qualifying, if that's still a thing with this current formula but Lewis had a lot more pace. He turned his engine down then banged in a lap 8 tenths quicker than Ricciardo when they were closing in.

However, RB has made progress so he'll definitely need to take that penalty come Spa if he wants the race to be damage limitations.

I think it was similar to Austria, just kept on going straight, past the apex. He go the penalty last time and Vettel also got a similar penalty in Silverstone too so there's consistency.
Max needs to start getting some reprimands for moving in the braking zone though.

A pretty telling moment when Sebby said "negative" to his team... not for the first time this season too.  Giving the impression that the trust isn't as strong as it once was.  Fernando was criticized for leaving Ferrari, but could it appear to be paying off now and in the long-term?  Only time will tell.

Exactly my thought.

When Fernando was unhappy with Ferrari's performance and development, he got criticized. People said he's no team player and not able to help the team developing a better car.

Now Vettel is in the same boat and people are not criticizing him.

They should realize that not the drivers are the problem at Ferrari. The team is struggling for years, because their whole organization is a mess. And I don't see an improvement for the next season at all.

More mechanical grip... less reliant on aero... less influence of dirty-air... closer following... hopefully.

Even Kimi has the hover hand

Won't lie though, out of the drivers in the paddock , he did well.

Esteban Ocon will replace Rio Haryanto for the rest of the season at Manor.

Now two drivers under contract of Mercedes are fighting against each other in the Manor for a possible future job at Mercedes. This will be fun
