Had a Sleep Paralysis for The First Time the Other Night

I experience sleep paralysis unfortunately about once a week. Sadly I've gotten use to seeing dark figures/shapes on my walls and on the ceiling and just kind of block them out and eventually wake myself up. Worst case I've had was thinking I saw my roommate charging at me, actually caused me to bolt up out of bed once I was able to move and put a huge gash in my knee on the side of my bed. I walked out in the hallway and my roommate heard the sound and saw me standing there bleeding, trying to explain that was fun.

Can't quote on my phone for a specific page , but to that person who was asking for the correlation between sleep paralysis and me/sister's "shadow man" experience, it has been theorized that THEY are associated with sleep paralysis and the "visions" they bring.

Again, I'd like them to explain how me and my sister had the EXACT same nightmare at the EXACT SAME TIME.

I used to have many episodes of sleep paralysis but it stopped for a long time after that horrible incident. The last one I had was 4 years ago when I felt all the symptoms of sleep paralysis except this time I wasn't afraid...I was angry! I cursred and threatened whatever was causing it. You know what I heard immediately after I did? I heard rough low pitch chuckle in my ears. I did manage to wake up out of it. Haven't had an episode since.

I used to get this up until i was about 10 years old, it was from a ghost that ran down the hallway of my house every night ( prob due to hallucination) and me getting decapitated by the grim reaper in the woods smh

Sleep paralysis is the WORST if you're sleeping next to a female.

I remember mumbling "Help me." because I couldn't move. My now ex girlfriend shook me out of it. :smh: :frown:

I rarely sleep facing up now.

My girl experiences this a lot...even when she takes a 20 minute nap. Its kinda freaks me out when she describes it cuz I hadn't even heard of this until she told me about it. She says she yells my name when she really isn't saying anything and theres someone/thing whispering in her ear and pinning her legs and shoulders down and she cant move no matter what...I was like

when she first told me, had me thinking it was some Katie from Paranomal Activity stuff going on

This is exactly what its like. It rarely happens to me but after its over I always think about it. I always feel like someone is coming to murder me and I cant get away. I dont hate it though

This **** happen to me last week. My cousin was in his room sleeping til he just started screaming and ran to my room. This ***** ended up sleeping in my room and the next thing you know is im here trying to scream but something was not letting me, not even move. It's scary cause you aware of what is going on but you cant really do anything about it but relax. lol the funny thing was that my cousin saw that the same thing was happening to me so he got scared and ran out the room lol.

:wow:

those beings are so powerfull and will bring you to your knees. i read if you aint scared they wont mess with you, they feed off dat fear. my bro seen one walking past this haunted road in my town at like 3am... a weird mist/fog suddently came up and it came from the woods with the upper part of the body missing, the figure was darker than DARK.
:smh:

Yea demons are indeed real, i remember i was sitting on the stairs and my mom had a sleep paralysis moment, she was frozen, screaming at a corner saying there was a blue demon in it laughing at her.

My mom would tell me that some people can see demons, angels, deceased relatives and ect. when other can't. She would say its not something you learn but given at birth. She explained that it can dormant until a traumatic experience releases it. She said she knew when I was baby I would not be able to see them. I have two brothers and a sister and she says they have the gift.

I remember one time my lil sis was playing on our swing set in the backyard by herself. I look out the window to check on her and she was having the best time of her. She was laughing and talking as if someone was back there with her. I told my mom and she said our great grandmother was back there with her. Our great grandmother had recently passed so I was like  .

Sort of like a medium, I have heard of mediums being able to see the ghosts o lost relatives and things like that, i am glad that the paralysis stopped for me, it was no fun at all

I used to have sleep paralysis pretty often when I was in school. The first time I experienced it, it freaked me the hell out. I would hear what sounded like a train approaching and I would be wide awake but unable to move for what was probably less than 10 seconds but felt like an hour. As it became more frequent, I would try to relax, take a deep breath and let it pass. It probably has to do with sleep patterns and stress as it has been forever since I've had an episode. I used to also have those hypnic jerks when I was younger. Had an episode one time in class in an auditorium where you have the fold down desk. POW.....

I read the same! It's been a long time since that episode so I'm very happy.  I wouldn't doubt what your brother saw, trust me, it's crazy to see something so damn dark. It's hard to explain but that color almost looks solid/deep, almost as if you were to cut someone out of a picture.

My brother and cousin saw one walking in front of us as we were walking home from a friends' house at midnight. They both flinched and got very shook!  I didn't see it because I had my head down and was in the middle of a joke/convo. Lol,  We just booked it home since we were only 2 blocks away from home.

at you guys thinking you're actually seeing "demons."

Anyway, I had sleep paralysis last night, thought I was lying on my back and at first I was unable to move any of my body, then for the first time during an episode I was able to move my hands, which I put behind my head and lifted upwards. Then, when I woke up, I was sleeping on my stomach/side, like I almost always do. This makes me think that sleep paralysis is closer to an actual dream than most people think--rather than being "half-awake" or whatever, you're just dreaming normally and the setting of the dream is just an accurate recreation of what your room looks like from your bed, on your back.

Happen to me the other week. Everyone experiences something different.
I was sleeping on my back and felt something touching my feet at the end of my bed.
Felt something slowly working its way to my face next to me, but I yelled Jesus name in my head and I was free......
Then I watched Spongebob for an hour and passed out again.

Happened to me the other week.. was asleep on my back..My brain was awake, my body wasn't..it always seems like my eyes are partially open.  I try to force any part of my body to move or make a sound..can't do it.  Only once i felt like there was a figure near by..freaks me the hell out everytime it happens

I have been having sleep paralysis since I was a little kid

I use to think I was an X-Men or something because I would have these and Déjà vu. I Couldn’t explain either lol.

Something you never really get used to. I have them all the time. Had 3 in a row last week.

I have had lucid dreams on two occasions. One time I decided to just stop the events in my dream and just fly. Really cool feeling. Another time I decided to do a Kamehameha wave lol.
Had my first lucid dream like a month ago. Craziest experience of my life. My dreams are always hella realistic, but something was off, and I remembered that I had just gotten into bed and there was no way I could be where I was.. I tried to fly.. and did. **** was absolutely mind blowing. I wish I could do that every night.

To address OP, only had sleep paralysis once in my life. Swear to god I thought a demon was in the room. Tried to move, couldnt. Tried to yell, couldnt. I closed my eyes and prayed lol.

Used to get sleep paralysis a lot in college.

Full time student + Full time employee + Trying to have a social life + High amounts of caffeine = messed up sleeping habits and frequent sleep paralysis.

I'm done with college now, get plenty of sleep and it rarely happens anymore.

1-2 every couple months if that.

It happened to me twice , each time I literally thought tht this is wat happens to everyone before they die . Crazy mann

No certain cause or meaning. This is from Wiki:
Some reports read that various factors increase the likelihood of both paralysis and hallucinations. These include:
  • Sleeping in a face upwards or supine position
  • Increased stress
  • Sudden environmental or lifestyle changes
  • A lucid dream that immediately precedes the episode
  • Excessive consumption of alcohol coupled with lack of adequate sleep
i had one the other day in my car at school. i woke up but my eyes were closed and i obviously couldn't move... i seen a silhouette that i interpreted to be myself literally said "come back", in my head, to myself and the silhouette turned and looked back at me and then turned away. i said it again and then i was able to open my eyes and move.

i heard of astral projections and stuff i suppose this is what was happening... not sure if it's actually possible and this is what i was experiencing, or if it was just my mind subconsciously connecting dots to make thing make sense.

This hasn't happened to me in a while... Thank God! But real talk.. There were a cpl instances where it occurred several yrs back & as embarrassing as it sounds, I literally felt like someone was jamming their fingers up my *******.. not playing. First time it ever happened, I remember it was some random cop, but now that I think about it, it had to be a demon or some type of dark entity, 2nd time around about a yr later, I sorta had the same experience but couldn't see who or what it was behind my back. There was also another case where it felt like someone was pushing their elbow really hard against my mid-back at the exact pressure point, but I couldn't do **** about it. #True story.

Man sorry but this ish had me dying
Haven't had sleep paralysis in a while but people talking shadow figures has me shook because when I was little I saw three ghost above my head in my grandmothers house and I told my mom and she said she saw them too and wouldn't doubt it because her mom was murdered and when she was little she saw her mom in the same house at night walking around... So I definately believe in spirits and the correlation.
Plus sometimes I suffer from déjà vu and out of body experiences that I can't explain... I mean sometimes my dreams are hella violent on some Freddy Krueger type ish but it feels so real like I am in somebody else's body like quantum leap type ish
