Arrogance of having a college degree

My girl has a degree and I have one and I would never talk to a chick without one because we simply won't have much in common outside of talking about current events maybe.

I agree with this statement. My college education plays an important role in my life. My career, extracurricular activities, interests, and personality have all been shaped to some extent from my college experience. For that reason, I've found that it's harder for me to relate to people that didn't have a comparable college experience. I like spending time with intelligent women. If that makes me arrogant, then so be it. I don't make the judgement solely on whether the woman has a degree of any sort though. For me, where she got the degree from, how she is leveraging her education post-college, and how she applies her education in regular conversations all play a part.
I really don't see how it is shallow to want women that you associate with to be educated. If anything it's a lot less shallow than judging women solely on physical characteristics.
Those of you objecting to Lucky's statement - do you all have criteria for females that you associate with? Could you post them? I sincerely doubt they are any less "shallow" or "arrogant" than wanting a woman with a degree.

What would y'all rank accounting major as?
Boring. The field doesn't seem interesting at all to me. It is recession-proof and an easy degree to leverage into a job.

So Lucky, are you telling me that all chicks without degrees or currently pursuing a degree or certificate are not even worth anytime? Cmon man you know better than that bruh......

You know how many NICE chicks there are out there with no degrees or education that STILL are cultured, still working decent or great jobs or own their own business, and still are GOOD people? Lets be serious here, you gotta understand how shallow your comment came across. If your only talking to chicks about college or your time in college or you and her major, then thats a pretty dull relationship bruh. You trippin
There are also just as many quality chicks out there with degrees. I don't think Lucky is limiting his relationship prospects but only talking to girls with degrees.

If you obtain a college degree and want your significant other to have a college degree as well, that makes you arrogant?
I have the same question...

Stress triggers the release cortisol. A steroid hormone that suppresses testosterone production. I'm good. Stress free is the way to be.
Cortisol and estrogen are probably the two evilest forces out there.

Anti don't sleep on stress. It can have many effects on the body. I mean...... I can literally start a new thread on the topic if you want. Why would anyone put money over their well being is beyond me.
Stress thread would be a good look. I find the topic quite interesting.

I agree that a random bachelors from any old school isn't necessarily something that one should brag about.t That said, I think it's a lot more constructive to brag about receiving an education than to brag about indiscriminately smashing women of questionable quality, owing certain material goods, or any of the other subjects that people our age commonly brag about.

The truth is, college degrees are another factor people use to judge you on. If I dont know you, id be more impressed and think higher of you if you tell me you have a degree from nyu or any respected school, than a community school. Just kinda how it is unfortunately.
You need to meet new people bro. Spoke to many foolish people with college degrees from respectable schools.

That arrogance is what holds people back from progressing AND OPENING THEIR MIND. The world is bigger than college degrees.

If you get a degree from an accredited institution that's all that matters in my eyes. And also community college's are needed, I don't know why people are so quick to look down on community college.

I'm also speaking on behalf of all the HBCU's and small colleges that are mostly unknown.

The arrogance stems from the fact that a person with a bachelor earns about 1.6-2 times more than the non degree holder per week on average + Is twice as unlikely to be unemployed + they have the whole college experience to brag about + a sense of entitlement + illusions of grandeur.

I'm in my final year of a B.S. in computer science and I've seen my fair share of arrogant people but they are more common in liberal art schools doing literature, music, etc.

A lot of them are single too...and one of the reasons they stay that way is what OP was getting at when he made this thread.
I don't mind that though. I appreciate discerning women who value education like myself. Women recognize this. I'm sure this is frustrating for people who have been rejected because their degree doesn't live up to their love interest's expectations, but I personally appreciate and benefit from this attitude.

A degree aint worth **** unless you have a job that speaks for it.

Very true but a degree makes your chances of getting that job higher. Life isn't all book smarts though. Its people with degrees with minimal street smarts that lack real world common sense and they struggle in life regardless of their degree.

Of course. I was just saying that if you get a degree in whatever field you're trying to go in, and don't get a job in that field, it's meaningless. Especially in fields that have a low success rate. It really bothers me when people get degrees in some fields that aren't really hiring like that, and end up seeing them all upset afterwards.

I've earned this degree. I've been through so much getting this BS degree of criminal justice. I even had people who didn't believe I could get this degree. You darn right I'm going to tell people that I am college educated, but I for one will say that it doesn't make me better then the next person. I will remain humble as much as possible. Its very bittersweet with this crappy economy we live in, but I'm very proud to get it. I just got this in May by the way..

I'm saying that I appreciate when educated women limit the men they associate with based on education level. I'm well educated, so this isn't a hindrance for me. In fact, I find women who value education more attractive than those who don't.
Got you.

You're trying too hard...It's frustrating for the female because their biological clock is ticking faster than a 2 minute drill. Not to mention the added pressure from society. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're single so it doesn't really matter.

You make the same type of threads in 2013. Have a seat dough boy.

Lol posting irrelevant stuff to the thread what ever you say clown. Have fun with your fry cook hood boppers

It totally depends on what the money is like for me. If it sucks and pays extremely well I'll be fine. There are few things that I could do for a career that I would actually like, and the windows closed on most of those.

With no hesitation whatsoever. The money IS the balance in my book.
All that money, the money is the motive.

It's relevant because you were talking down to dudes making girl problem threads when you make stupid problem/question threads weekly.

Post your girlfriend.

Speaking of fry cooks...I bet she's fat. :nerd:
