His Airness says he could beat Lebron in his prime...not sure about Kobe

Keyword: Bull rushing.

That's the thing though. I think everyone is aware that Lebron is the most physically gifted athlete in the NBA. Bigger+Stronger+Faster than anything we have seen. That is what makes him a dominant player.

But I do not respect it in terms of being the GOAT. It doesn't take much skill to Bullrush people and place a ball into a hoop. Its like having respect for a 8th grader Bullrush a bunch of 5th graders in basketball.

^ While I agree no player at that skill level can be guarded one on one, there is one factor why he says he can beat Lebron-mental toughness. MJ's mentality and tenacity I think are head and shoulders above Lebron. That is a byproduct of the era he played in. He HAD to think the way he thought to survive.

That ain't got a damn thing to do with 1-on-1 fam lol. Using your physical advantages takes skill. Word to Shaq.

Well a huge key to lebrons game is based around driving to the hoop and kicking it out for a 3 pointer. It was in Cleveland and it is in Miami. Why would he be an elite one on one player?

Either way this is what made Jordan great. And also a borderline psycho. He would give up all the money in the world to be in his mid 20s and son todays entire NBA.

Why do ya'll keep bringing up things that don't matter? Lol. Yes LeBron can kick it out...but he is an ELITE finisher. How does that not translate over to 1-on-1?

"You go in with the understanding of 'I'm going to get hit. I'm going to pay the price,'" he said. "But that's part of the game. I'm not going to be afraid to go inside. Those are the types of things that these kids don't even have a clue of how we had to grow up and how we had to play."
Watching NBA Hardwood Classics the games were very physical.

Honestly, I think Carmelo and Durant both have a better shot at beating MJ than Lebron. Lebron is the best in the game right now but he is not known as a 1 on 1 player.

In your opinion, do you think LeBron is not know as a 1 on 1 player because it requires more than one person to contain him at all times?

I think you would be surprised, even though you shouldn't be, at how easy LeBron would get to the rim if teams chose to defend him 1 on 1 on an island with no backside help. I would think that in any game of 1 on 1 that LeBron would be able to get 95% of his points at the block or closer.

Also Jordans comment doesn't even make sense. We don't even know if LeBron has peaked yet. So is Jordan saying yeah "prime me could totally beat non prime Lebron"

Good point. Lebron's jumpshot noticeably improved last year. He might not have peaked yet.

Really good point. His post game has become serviceable as well. Who knows if he's able to master it.

Lebron's response - " Michael is entitled to his opinion but i prefer to play a team game not 1 on 1"

Kobe's response - Smiles..."I mean Michael wasn't the only person i stole moves from but it would be a great match-up, i think i would take him"

Wade response - "Jordan mentioned my name??"

this is true but it doesnt matter when talking about these guys, kobe, mike, bron, melo and kd can all get to the rim when ever they want 1v1

it would really come down to how the players are feeling on the given day

imo jordan would win a majority of games vs anyone

however when prime kobe was feeling it he was the greatest 1v1/scorer of all time.

I'm not doubting Lebron's one on one abilities cause I used to follow him closely and I've seen him have some crazy scoring bouts. BUT, Lebron as a player is known for his overall play within a team game. Lebron is a good one on one player but guys like KD and Melo are just better. They have more range and quicker first steps which is a huge advantage in one on one.

Yea, I get that. But how many times can we talk about that same triangle. Jordan, Kobe, and LeBronze. Jordan said this. Kobe said that. LeBron pick this person. Every 6 months, something new is said regarding these 3 and it brings up the same tired conversations LOL.

If it were Isaiah Thomas, Allen Iverson, and CP3, then fine. But these 3? Again

its more just the media than NT, if a video/article of the same nature with iverson or kevin johnson came up im sure we would be talking about it too. but that just never happens so we get kobe/mike/bron news over and over again.

Im saying this without any hostility. Do you have anything to back up the claim that Melo and KD have more range and quicker first steps than LeBron other than "they're just better" or are you simply saying that because they're skill set is limited to that causing them to rely on it more than LeBron thus giving you the idea they're better at it. LeBrons overall skill set is the closest thing we've seen to flawless. I don't think LeBron being capable of doing more by utilizing his entire game should be a reason to held against him. Just because we see LeBron playing team ball at such a high level doesn't mean he's not as good in that area because other players need to use a certain part of their game more to succeed. I think LeBron has shown us enough times that when needed he can not only dominate 1 on 1 but even do it 1 on 5 for the better art of his career. The 06 Pistons series he probably displayed that specific skill better far better than either KD or Melo have ever shown in their career.

Im basing those claims off of observation. If you watch KD and Melo, they tend to be more comfortable with their 3 point game and are usually able to get by their defenders more often cause they have quick first steps. Whether or not this is magnified because they have a more limited skill set then LeBron doesn't change the fact that they still excel in those areas compared to LeBron.

Please don't tell me you think LeBron's 3 pointer is on par with KD's and Melo's.

I'm just going to make the point I always make going in to this debate.

All 3 will by majority be considered Top 5 to do it. Who cares about this anymore?

LeBron's 3-point shot isn't on par with Melo's, it's better than Melo's. Look at the numbers. Higher percentage on more attempts.
