I'm not posting this to complain or rant. I'm merely trying to see if others are experiencing the same things and seeing the same trends

So I've been consigning with Flight Club NY (haven't dealt with LA) since all the way back in '05 when they were still "vintagekicks.com." They've always been pretty open to accepting ANY and all shoes that I'd offer to consign and flexible with the selling price. But about a year or so ago they started turning away certain sneakers I'd offer to consign saying either they have too many of the particular style in stock or they don't have any demand for it. And now with their new system, 90% of the time it seems they never accept any of my initial proposed consigning prices and will counter it by offering a significantly lower selling price.

Again I'm not knocking their customer service or anything like that because I've never had any problems with them for that matter. I just wanted to see if there is a reason for their gradual change in consignment practices. Any input or comments would be helpful

I actually wanted to put some kicks up for consignment at fcny. I had to create an account and fill out some things. They took a week and a half to get back to me but they accepted all the shoes I wanted to put up for consignment. Like posted earlier, if fc has multiple pairs of the shoes you have they arnt going to accept it. Maybe when they sell the pairs they already have

I never sold any of my sneakers on niketalk.

I sold all of mines on ISS before I joined niketalk.

SMH, I don't even know why I bothered making this post.

99% of these people don't even know how to read English.

Flightclub is still around so people have been buying kicks from them more than you think. Last time I was up there, I see mostly foreigners buying multiple shoes. They must be new to sneakers or just ballin

Sneaker market is completely saturated

Signs are out there that this bubble is going to pop

Like what?  Specifically.

Sneakers have become like Beanie Babies... they're dropping every week... everything has a stupid nickname and a "Limited" label even though they aren't really limited. Even most of the "limited" shoes Nike is making are being manufactured in large quantities. Nike is making more shoes than ever before, so many shoes that their old contractors in Vietnam, Taiwan and Indonesia couldn't keep up with the demand, hence their contract with the po chen group and decision to move of 99% of their production to China. The quality is suffering, the prices are going up, and thanks to Chinas loose copyright laws fakes are at an all time high and looking more real than ever, blurring the lines between the real deal and the knockoff.

Nike built its reputation on innovative performance shoes and now their reputation is based on cheesy nick names and gimmicks. Nikes and Jordans are for kids, kids who "collect" and would rather show their stuff off in photos online than actually wear it. Nike sees this market and exploits it... I can't blame them, but shoes have truly become a fad among kids just like Beanie Babies, thinking things will stay this way forever is incredibly naive. The market is completely saturated, sneakers that once made someone feel "unique" are totally played out and as far away from unique as a person can get. People who used to be into shoes before it became the fad that it is today are beginning to realize this, and spending their money elsewhere.

Shoot....at the end of the day these are nothing more than cheaply made, mass produced sweatshop sneakers that discolor, degrade and fall apart whether you wear them or not.

If you need someone else to sell your gym shoes you've already lost.
