Homeless Families in Central Florida

I'm so sure most of you have been to Disney World before on vacation but I don't think that most of you know of highway 192. It is just down the street from Disney World and there are thousands of homeless families that basically have no where to go. Their stories are HEART BREAKING because I have been documenting some of their lives and it has been a crazy experience. I am doing this for free for a Non Profit organization called Clarita's House and they are trying so hard to build an actual HOME like those you see in Pursuit of Happyness but something more for rebuilding and helping families get back on their feet. It will be super focused on just helping one family at a time.

PLEASE everyone... these families really need help and just $1 would help us so much. We do all of this for free and we spend so much time just trying to give free groceries and we just want to be able to help more.

The link to the Indiegogo page is : http://igg.me/at/claritashouse/x/4729984

and it has been verified by the website that it is indeed a Non-Profit and all proceeds will go towards the building of an actual "clarita's house".

thank you guys so much and I do hope that if you can't donate financially, just send these families a short prayer in your hearts.

God Bless!

If I can just get your guys' opinion on the situation... what can it be about the campaign that doesn't make people want to support? I am just very curious...any advice would be great

I mean, this is the first I've heard of this campaign, so lack of awareness is probably your reason for such little donations thus far. Try posting this on your Facebook and tagging everyone on your friends list, also might want to call up local radio stations to see if they can give a shout out, and local newspapers as well. I'll definitely be keeping these families in my prayers.

I definitely understand because that was my first thought when I met the founders of the organization "what is this?" But after seeing firsthand what they do and how passionate they are about helping these families, I knew that I needed to help get the word out. I have made them 4 videos so far and just trying my best to get the word out without trying to be "spammy" about it. I know how most people tend to look at these types of things weirdly, especially when it is "unknown."

Thanks so much for your input and prayers!

So far we have raised $13 ! Every dollar counts and if you all can give me any ideas for "perks" please let me know. Thanks!

What about the Social Services Agency in Florida and in the local County? There should be some community based organization money you can tap into.

Yes! I believe the director has been working with them but I think that most of the help that they get is through "money" that has already been turned into food. So they are providing us with the food to distribute to the homeless. However, the actual process of constructing a building for the homeless would have to be through sponsors and personal funds. This was just my little way of trying to raise funds for them and no matter how much i'm able to raise,  we are all extremely thankful.

First impression: You're using the disney name to draw attention to this particular set of homeless people and it's a little off putting. Theres homeless people no one gives a **** about right down the street from them. What does this have to do with disney? Maybe I missed something.

Damb. I reallly have soft spot for homeless people but def families in general.

I've actually never thought of looking at it in "that" perspective but I can see where you're coming from. I mean, it has just been a big problem in the Central Florida area and so locals just kind of really feel for the kids that see other kids having the time of their life at Disney World while they have no idea what to eat. :frown:

I would like to hear from others to see if this is a common mindset or if this is a rare case. Either way, thank you for the honesty!

It's not fair to compare those kids who are able to go there to homeless children. Not everyone who goes to Disney has money. Some are just getting by and reward themselves and their children to break away from the monotony and having to stress about a check.

Bro - Take your BS elsewhere. You're using NT push your brand and ask for handouts.

^Pure ignorance, chopper.

Dude is SOLELY using NT for the purpose of pushing his project. Hate I have to be the one to say it, but it's truth, even if it is for a great cause. He needs to do like Yeezus said and run this through Meth.

Well we don't just focus on  families that can't go to Disney. We try and help all that need the assistance. I agree with your last statement but...$100 ticket to go to Disney? /=just to break away from monotony?

Yes, it is true that i'm using NT but this is not my project at all. I just do these videos for free simply because their stories need to be heard. Everyone has a story and i'm just sick of the typical mindset that homeless people are "lazy" or on drugs or are ex-felons. My goal is just to get the word out and show that it can happen to anyone.

I tried to reach out to Meth and still waiting on his reply.

People save money. You're guilting people because they're on vacation while others can't.

I always wondered some of these documentaries would be without the sad music and slowmo. No shots op, just a thought. I commend what the people are doing to help.

I understand... but I'm really not guilting people at all. Just trying to literally show that just a few minutes from Disneyworld is a street full of families that need help and our job is to help them. Aren't all the charity ads and videos online "guilting people" as well?

I personally felt guilty when I saw the families and that's what pushed me to help in my own little way

I was thinking the same. I wonder how I'd feel if it were some circus/clown music.
