Any of you ever suffer a Knee Injury??

acemaster193 acemaster193 Updates?

luong1209 luong1209 Did you just tear it or did you do this during rehab?
I tore my ACL while playing basketball. I didn't know I tore it, was able to jog lightly 3 weeks later...I assume I shattered my meniscus playing basketball, again. I was young and stupid.

But, I also thought physical therapy was really stupid and no way it could help (again, young and stupid)...I was 17 then, I'm 25 now. My knee is in horrible shape, but I'm in the physical therapy field .

I actually just got hired as a physical therapy-aide. So again, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, take my advice and go through with your PT and strengthen the muscles surrounding your knee.

I messed up my knee playing baseball, listened to my mom who said it was fine. Lasted a year not being able to jog/run. Walking like a pimp.

Go get it looked at....There is a dude in my office that walks around like he has a fake, wooden leg because he hurt his knee when he stepped off a curb and hit some ice last winter. Fool won't go to the doctor.

How is acl rehab going for you guys? I tore my acl and meniscus in july but I'm not scheduled for surgery till november. I haven't experienced any instability but I also stop playing sports and I only do occasional walking. Anyone with a similar experience?

Is it true ankle braces can contribute to knee injuries? I heard your body doesn't work naturally and your knee will take the toll

Yea same thing with high top sneakers, the inertia from your locked ankle goes up to the knee

Its going okay for me, I am close to being cleared to jump.

I tore my acl playing with low top basketball shoes thinking that they would save my knees. I think I wore out the cushioning in my shoes, really. I was playing in crimson em Kobe 9s and wearing them literally all the time because they're so comfortable. I still wear them sometimes just walk around in but I think the worn in lunarlon is too soft and unstable. After a few minutes of walking or standing my legs feel strained. I don't have this problem when I wear my brooks dyad running shoes. It sucks because I love the kobe 9s and i have like 8 pairs! 'll probably part with a few because definitely don't plan on playing in them again when I get better.

Not that I don't believe you but why does rose continue to wear ankle braces? His knee is bad enough as it is

So ironic. I'm nursing my knee as we speak. MRI this Friday

Playing flag football last Wednesday. Running the ball on end around, and I tried to juke a defender, going full speed :smh: . My knee buckled against my momentum due to my cleat not giving. I immediately screamed in pain, and went crazy for a good minute. According to someone, it was basically as if I didn't know how to process the pain, which is very accurate. Early diagnosis, no broken bones. But I haven't been able to bend my knee since the injury. I fear it's a tear of some sorts. This Friday will tell.

Happy I found this thread, I live by myself and I almost fell into a state of depression because I can't so normal ish.

Didn't realize the thread was still going....

toast1985 toast1985 Sorry to hear that brother. Did you hear a pop when it occurred? My knee looked just like yours after the injury and I couldn't bend it. Let's hope it isn't too serious, but be prepared should the doctor bear bad news. I literally fainted for a couple seconds when they diagnosed me with a torn ACL.

Advice: Keep the knee elevated above your heart and ICE the **** out of it. The faster the swelling goes down the quicker you can begin regaining motion. You won't know anything till the MRI. Keep us updated, I don't mind sharing my experience and shedding advice.

Forgot to update this thread. shaft shaft I'm now 10 weeks out of ACL reconstruction surgery. It's been a long rough road as many can attest, but it gets better every week. No where near my high functional level, but I'm walking at least and attacking rehab aggressively. It's more of a mental block than a physical block at this point, but still have to be careful.

I'll post some pics soon.

acemaster193 acemaster193 @Philart84 I heard a cracking almost. And I have limited range of motion. I am able to slightly walk after icing it for an hour or so. I'm pretty much prepared to hear anything after this Friday. Thanks though, I do appreciate it.

I see. Hang in there man, I know what you're going through.

I self diagnosed myself with an acl tear. No insurance right now...abroad. Hurt it june 15....so been about 3 months. Mainly just walking tons as my rehab. It feels fine now but hurts still if i try to run or have to go long flights of stairs. Not.gonna play sports till i start working and have insurance. Any other recommendations on rehab without surgery for an acl tear?

I broke my tibal L spine three times when I was 14, it is the bone that I believe connects to the acl

What had happened was I went to play football and caught a interception and all of a sudden I stumbled and popped, went to the doctors, was on crutches for 4 weeks and it healed, then again one day at a friends birthday party over 6months later, broke it again messing around wrestling with friends and the dude put his leg behind mine and bent me up

needless to say that crack was loud

While walking I stumbled in a ditch and broke it again, surgery plus 6 weeks of recover

Fast forward later

Tore my meniscus 2x, one required surgery, the other one didn't

Several bone bruises, only one on my right knee and that was the only injury to that knee

Partial tore ACL after coming down and twisting my left knee and did that, then I finally FULLY tore it doing something(can't remember).....I still could jog though I assume it's because I was young

Ever since I've been near the same but not quite when it comes to bending my knee

The doctor has even told me that I have a little bit of grinding in my left knee

plus some cartilage is gone, although I don't feel it

All I can say to you guys is to be resilient in rehabbing your knees, it takes time, don't rush to get back to where you were, the more rehab the better, in total I've spent about 2 years combined with all my knee injuries in rehab, do realize that depending on your circumstance you may be limited in some things that you were always able to do before, even after rehab continue to work in the gym or at home, swimming is a good thing I hear too for rehabbing, mind you I'm only near 18 and all of this has happened to me but I'm still going forward, if I can do it, all of you guys can, best wishes for you people

, the only thing I didn't get to do was to play basketball in hs, thinking about my future I opted not too and focus on academics, mentally I felt as if I had the confidence again but was cautious.

Some people can live their lives without opting for surgery. You're gonna need some proper supervised rehab to help you build your leg muscles, that will support your knee and more. I assume you will have to alter your lifestyle and be more careful with your knee possibly giving out.

Sounds like you are going at it the right way. Stay vigilant and good work!

Per my report:

1. Torn anterior cruciate ligament.
2. Torn lateral meniscus with posterior horn fragment displaced posterior to the inner posterior horn of the lateral meniscus.
3. Bone contusions in the lateral joint with depressed osteochondral fracture in the lateral femoral condule.
4. Large joint effusion.

Basically, I ruined my knee :smh: I was so distraught. I left work for the day.

Ah yeah I have almost the exact diagnosis. I'm walking fairly normally now. It's been almost two months since the initial injury. Surgery in November. Its pretty stable and getting stronger week by week but no sports for about a year.

For workouts I've been doing pull-ups and push-ups so I don't feel like a fat ***.

Keep updating!

We'll get through this!!!

Yeah. I really just want to get back in the gym. It's like every time I can kill 225lbs 10x unassisted, I fall off, lol. But that's encouraging to hear that you're walking.
