Yo realtalk, New York may be the worst city ever

The Chamber of Commerce is a goverment building. When I say Big Biz I mean BIG Private biz. I just doesnt look good to have a skyscaper with the name of its founder on it ovelooking the national Capital.

Can DC really take more people in DC, Its cramped as it is. Metro sucks, it can barely get you in not mutiply that with more people which would create more congestion. Not mention the high water table. A good rain closes off streets, and skyscrappers need a good deep heavy anchor. DC (government) aint got the money to do it.
you are thinking of the Department of Commerce...the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the massively-funded lobbying entity that represents many of the biggest corporations in the nation...

and DCs population within city limits peaked at almost a million people...granted that was decades ago but it was before measures were put in to actually reduce congestion (the metro)...

again, im not saying "canyonize" DC with 50 story buildings, im saying build taller in certain areas...the ones i listed in my previous post are already undergoing massive development/redevelopment projects and could more than likely handle it

72 and forever sunny

It's just that damn traffic that kills LA imo. I am super envious of your weather though. If SF had hot weather like LA, we'd be the best city ever. Granted our weather is nothing to complain about but our beaches are so lacking a proper vibe. Even when it gets 70 degrees, going to the beach is nice and all but going inside the water is still impossible. We need 90 degree weather for that.

i might visit NY since ill be closer now,

go record digging if spots even exist nowadays because of the damn hipsters..

one of the reasons why i skipped my trip to LA before i depart on my cross country move.

probably better of taking a road trip and hitting places like memphis up.

This is why some people hate SF too. Some people just can't wrap around their head that it takes 45 minutes to go 5-6 miles using public transportation. And some people are just not into public transportation at all. Like they are above taking buses and what not and would rather always drive their cars and spend the money on $25 lots a day. I grew up in the burbs where you needed a car for everything. It was almost shameful if kids had to take the bus to the mall or what not.

It isnt that hard to get around NY. If you are taking a cross town bus at peak hours, of course it will take forever, there are 9 million people in NYC.

I know. No one should be complaining about the transportation in NY. You guys have the best public transportation in the US. I really wish SF would follow suit or at least have trains run late hours and not only till midnight. It's just odd how some cities stay up later than others. Out nightlife isn't as nearly as good because of that. NY definitely kills in that department.

I was born in SF and moved to NYC when i was 3

Its clean as hell but i just could not fathom how far apart those stops were

that ish is basically metro north

How many people with an opinion of NYC been outside of touristy part of Manhattan. There's plenty of clean places to live if a dirty part of Manhattan doesn't do it for you  Best city in the U.S. Cali looks nice though. It's so spread out I can't say it could be better because there's too many cities to choose from.

EDIT If OP is really from Alabama I'm sad I came in here to state my case. The south :x

I would say it's the "best", but it isnt saying much. It could be a lot better if it wasnt full of bureaucracy. Never been to SF, but I think Ill be there often because my brother-in-law is moving there.

I've been to LA on a few occasions, traffic has to be the absolute worst

Very true. These are the NYers that we see and hear out here that we learn to hate. Point blank....SF is just different. I was just getting crap from my coworker how it sucks that SF has no rooftop bars or any good delis. I am like dude....that is like going to Italy and complaining how there is no good Chinese. You just can't want something out there that doesn't necessarily exist.

Well, our public transportation in just SF is fine. To get around is easy and even getting taxis/Ubers are easy as well. What makes public transportation bad is say for people that work here. Obviously cost of living is super high but our trains only go so far out where a lot of people still have to drive to the city or drive to the nearest train. Our trains need to expand and that'd help out and give more options for people to even live farther away from work where it is cheaper.

It doesn't even compare.

ehh...

growing up in LA you learn to deal with it.

what freeways to avoid, best time to travel, shortcuts, etc.

Now when it rains :x

people all of a sudden forget how to drive :smh:

I see what your saying. What you posted isnt our subway system, but other railways that a lot of people from NJ, Westchester, and Long Island transfer from too, but yes compared to what you posted of the Bay Area our subway system is far superior.

This is the subway of NYC. So for someone to say it's hard to get around....

Like you said, you can't compare sf to nyc. The only that will happen is if the eastbay got more alive at night. If anything, I see the streetcar running late before I can see BART running late. The 2am rule is taking away from that as well as ridership expectancy to and from the eastbay at night.

Simply put BART = Metro North

One thing about BART is they dont really run late

Cant even the last time I took the bus. I can probably walk faster to my destination than taking the bus anyway.
Yup. If you're below 96th street taking the bus is a waste of time. Just walk. I walk almost everywhere in manhattan

NY in the winter as a whole is just

First, median =/= overall
Second, stats are skewed. Look at the population disparity.
Third, more money goes through NYC in a day than probably the entire Bay Area combined.
as a person that thoroughly believes that Houston >>> NY...

You gotta be on some special kind of drugs to think there's more money flowing through San Fran than NY.
