Mark Wahlberg asking for a pardon... everyone has a past

 I wouldn't even get into it with someone who just read that people were randomly targeted, called slurs then beaten to the point where a man was partially blind and think that's not a racist act. That's a certified moron, ya'll setting yourselves up for frustration. People do mature and change, but there's no question those acts in his youth were racist.

He needs to compensate dude or do something for the Vietnamese in Boston. 45 days in jail for beating someone brutally isn't enough punishment for him, period.

He was 17 they wasnt gonna try him as an adult. Duh.

I'm sure he got scared straight while in there shining big Willie's knob.

Yes exactly, i don't give a damn what you call me, a insult is an insult.

A white person can say the n word once and the whole damn AF american race gets but hurt. But a black person can call the white man every word in the book and most just laugh, its a joke.

A white person can call every black person in the room a N. As long as he excludes me I don't give a damn.

"Everybody in here is a N except for Trey"

Me: Say no more... Carry on...

if i were to call it like it is, its clear youre an idiot

This has been known. He did a little stint at the old deer island way back. It's not shocking at all if you know anything about boston. Racial slurs are tossed around pretty casually here. He already paid for his mistake I don't know what the problem is. Who cares about the Asian he robbed? What has he done with his life? What has he given back to the community?

I think people can change. Few and far between maybe...but word to american history x.

Regardless if he changed he doesn't deserve it. Simply put, it would be wildly unfair. Like...mad unfair.

I like mark whalberg as an actor. I can't help it. His movies are fun to watch for the most part, if not really good.

What I want to know is what is the degree of racism in Boston? I know the city has its reputation. But my girl is from there and she is from a more diverse part of greater Boston. And I haven't experienced any racism directed at me but I can see the blatant segregation in Dorchester for example. But is it that bad compared to NYC? I mean with profiling at Macy's 34st or NYPD...is Boston any worse than NYC? :nerd:

Serious question. Excuse typos..on cell.

I'm from Dorchester. lived there most of my life. there's definitely some racism for sure depending where you are. been called a c**** plenty of times and heard a lot of "Ching Chong makahoi" growing up from both white and black kids

haven't spent enough time in NYC to make a comparison

haven't encountered much of that lately tho.

word. i figured some neighborhoods you'd probably see the hate more so than others. dorchester...man i've chilled on the white side, and i went with a group of girls all white (my shorty included). it was like mad blue collar, DUSTY as ****, and white. made me feel truly uncomfortable...and i've lived in north philly for 2 years  i didn't get denied service or anything like that, but def was not an area i'd be cool visiting more than once lol

but like yuppie areas like cambridge...havard sq, central sq, davis sq in somerville...boston proper like around northeastern, or north end around Bova's bakery...fenway. people around these areas chill from what i see. i guess im just having trouble seeing where the racism reputation is coming from if its just areas like dot...or southie.

I didnt' mean to laugh, but that was funny.  The funny part was when you made a reference about not spending enough time in NYC as if you were a test subject, testing yourself in different markets. LOOOLZ

LOLZ @ lessened encounters as if you were a repeat victim.. nah JK

It's not the same as it was. Things have changed a lot and the city has become much more diverse. people that grew up in Charlestown southie and Dorchester are not like people from the areas you mentioned. They have been building south Boston up though a lot of nice condos over there now

If you guys that are judging him haven't changed significantly since the age of 17 you have your own issues to worry about. He was a product of his environment and Maybe now he understands his wrongdoings and wants it off his back. He was 17... I did a lot of dumb stuff when I was 17, and I'm currently happy with the man I'm becoming. As a minority who begs for the forgiveness of youth in his community, it would be completely bias not to feel the same for marky mark based on his skin color and success. I doubt any of you would feel the same about a young black man attempting to clean up his juvenile record and become a better man. That's the problem with your biases, if u expect it for one race u better be willing to give it to the next race

The only thing in here that made real sense to me.

It basically comes down to

a) do you think people can change
b) what he did at 17 defines his views for a lifetime

Make him pay restitution/donate percentage of restaurant money to charity along with a public apology. Then remove the felony and Let that man flourish.

I'm not the same person I was when I was 17 and im only approaching my mid 20's

Guy is in his 40's...

I agree with gwap.. restitution to the families + donate percentage of restaurant cash = good to go.
