East Coast Global Warming Appreciation Thread...vol. Today ONLY

Swear...if someone parks in the spot I sent 3 hours digging out this morning, I'm kicking their windows in.

You really think that spot will be there waiting for you?

I understand where the author is coming from, but I feel like it should be an unspoken rule, or better put a common courtesy. I know personally, I'd feel like a jerk if I pulled into my neighbors parking spot after he spent hours shoveling it out. And yes it does take hours to shovel 24+ inches of snow surrounding your car, along with a 4 foot snowbank made by a snowplow.

I hear you, I really do. But no shot am I passing up on a spot if I need to take it  . This isn't your boy calling fives when he gets up to use the bathroom and you jack his seat anyway.

I feel bad for those who live on the east coastal cites near the ocean especially New Jersey :smh: :smh: all the storms push water into them and flood them out

This is so sad. Read about it earlier today. I wonder why they just didn't wait in their home until the father was done shoveling?
guess they wanted to spend family time together and didnt think that sitting in a car would be harmful. very upsetting news regardless

So was their snow inside the tailpipe? I wouldn't even think of that

seemed like the rear/pipes/exhaust were all blocked up by snow/ice and fumes traveled into the car. maybe a mechanic can explain this better. either way this is a sad story and lesson learned from now on to clear the rear before blasting heat in the car

I was thinking this exact thing when I dug my car out today. Opened the windows up while I ran it when I was making sure I could pull it out. Condolences to the family man, that's terrible.

It's possible their home lost power and they used the car as a heat source. About ten years ago, a massive wind storm hit Seattle and thousands were without power for as long as a week. People got desperate, and started using charcoal grills and such to heat their homes. There were eight deaths, and more poisonings. It was common in the immigrant population, so the Seattle Times used its entire front page one day to warn people of the dangers of carbon monoxide. They published the message in a bunch of languages to hopefully get through to non-English speakers. The whole situation was pretty sad.

I wish people were more cautious and smart when it comes to snow and snowstorms

They say stay off the roads yet people still drive and either get stuck somewhere after stepping out, run out of gas get stranded & freeze or lose control and get killed.

People out here shoveling the front of their house like its the end of the world and dying from overexertion

Starting cars covered in heavy snow

Don't understand how people died in this **** :smh: :smh:

a day later

looks like queens is da new forgotten boro.

:x

Question from someone from LA who don't know about this life. Once the trucks come through, isn't all that snow going to get packed on top of those cars? Meaning... don't they push the snow to the side?

Yea, plows push it the side which buries the cars... Few pics in here showing that

Took my 1hr 40min to get to work taking the MTA... Buses in Queens are running on delays because of alternate routes

Some of the streets by me still aren't cleared

smd @ people digging out their cars by shoveling snow onto the middle of the road that's already almost nearly impassable. thanks, douchebags.

where do you suggest we put the snow then ruler of the world?
first, thank you for addressing me by my proper title.

I understand it depends on the situation, but in most cases there are areas within feet where the snow can be dumped. I saw an elder gentleman actually taking snow across the street to dump it.
