Dressing Better Vol 2.0

They don't care if the college id is expired right? My college didn't even care that my id expired.

It's high fashion stuff, man. It's not meant for everyone. With these kind of stuff, you're paying for the designs. If you want the best bang ratio for quality to price, you need to look at home grown brands like Epaulet and Kent Wang.

The same can be said for a lot of brands. One of the more talked about concepts is the Yohji appeal. His stuff is pretty expensive, and some folks say that you end up looking like one of those old dudes at the mall in baggy suits on a Sunday morning

Idk I just don't see anything significant or innovative about the designs of a stonewashed all denim jacket or a camo t that justifies their super high price tags. I know how you have high fashion niche brands like commes des garcons or desquared2 or julius that have quite unique trends that cater a fanbase.

But I feel like this line has no distinction in their clothing similar to them, but rather mimics classic americana and simply brings it to a forefront with modern fitting or whatnot to cater to how clothes are fit now. I feel like the quality of these items are great, however I think apc is just robbing people blind with their markups. But people seem to not care, and thats how business works, you can't blame them.

Though not exactly orange to orange comparison and many will still not understand it, here's a good read on the difference in a plain tee versus a more expensive tee, not just on the perspective of quality but to those who buys them as well: Hanes vs Rick Owens

On the lookout for a messenger bag that would fit some documents and a 13in Macbook Pro with charger.

Pricing would be around 100 and cheaper.

Any thoughts?

you can get a jack spade for close to that. i lucked out and got the one i use daily for $40

Jack Spades been a very underrated brand. Great quality and always on deep discount. Their canvas bags are indestructible.

they're definitely not the most luxurious or comfortable brand but i think they are well worth the price on discount. that green leather duffel i use to travel on weekends once or twice a month for the past few years and it's holding up great.

I'm good on hair products for the next 18-24 months

Always coming through with the deals

No luck in the J Crew sales section yesterday they did have a lot of Bowery chinos for $25, some lightweight urban slim (not slim at all) chinos for half off, and saw some ludlow trousers for $50. So definitely some deals just no 484 or ludlow slim fits like I was looking for. Shirt selection in the sales section was pretty wack.

I had to return a pair of chinos I ordered because the urban slim fit was so big in the thighs. How are the 484 in comparison?

Pretty slim. 7" leg opening for the 484 in size 31. I'm beginning to like less slimmer chinos now as well for variation. I bought a pair of the urban slim and they didn't look too straight cut on me. Slightly less tapered but still good.

Bemberg or not....how is J.Crew so foolish enough to create summer suiting and keep it fully lined :smh:

That suit is an EZ PASS.
Agreed. I don't know how they can line this and have a Harris Tweed that is partially lined.

Personally I can't tell the difference much between lined and unlined though, in term of ventilation. If it's hot outside I'm going to be sweating regardless if I have a jacket on.

I'm actually starting to feel the same way as you. I still like my jeans slim cut but I'm starting to want to try to get chinos a bit bigger than the urban slim but with a higher rise. A moderate taper with a medium rise would be perfect for me right now.

But I do know that when the fall comes around, I do want my corduroys to be straight fit.

The variation isn't that much to me I find out.

Just got this urban slim today. $16 taxed. It's a bit more relaxed which I really like.

I forgot who, other than @wj4, bought it but I joined the club on that J. Crew grey windowpane suit...for $135 total.  Jacket was $159 & the pants were $99 before 50% discount.  Final sale, no student discount.  Not bad for ANY decent suit, even better considering it retailed for around $580.

Couldn't pass it up.  Much darker in person but still nice enough.

Here's a pic of me wearing it.  Just threw on the shirt, tie & PS real quick:

You beat me. I think I paid $200 for it. Feels bad now :frown:

They had it in store?

I've been bypassing J. Crew for years now but after peepin this thread I felt compelled to check it out and...WOW :wow:
THIS is what I've been missin in my life(or closet). I always assumed they sold whack plain overpriced clothing, guess the manikin wasn't rockin it right. But now I'm a believer, soon to be a convert.

Their stuff is overpriced and plain, but often you can score them at deep discounts. Yeah, their mannequins, especially for men, are lack lusting. They just make boring menswear and workwear inspired stuff. No 'fresh' gear here.

Elkin is smiling because you converted. Adrian is frowning because you converted.
