F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

Lewis needs to sort out his qualifying.

Long runs looked really good yesterday so it will be interesting to see if he tries to challenge for the win or hold back.

Jenson looking like he won't have a drive next year after that BBC interview.

YES YES

What a tough way to go for Nico... very gracious though...

Jenson with the P5 though!!! WHOOOP.

Really hoping that Jenson gets to stick around for a year of Honda power. He has destroyed Magnussen in pretty much every metric. Didn't really care who won the title but really glad that double points didn't have any effect on it. What a farce that would have been.

JB's definitely done enough this season to show his worth, IMO... on the surface anyway.  But at the same time McLaren need to look at their future and that's in Kevin and Stoffel... Maybe line these kids up for '16?

Anyway...

Can't stress how impressed I was with Nico post-race... very classy of him to congratulate Lewis in the green-room.

This seemed like such a long time ago...

IMO they'd be better off sending Magnussen out to a smaller team (if possible). He's just going to get clobbered by Alonso and then what do you do with him? He'll look bad and his confidence will be shot.

Wow what race was that gif from?

Nico was very professional indeed.

As for McLaren, I think the Alonso, Magnussen combo is good since Magnussen is young but for success they should keep Button at least for another year.

Congrats to Lewis!

Cant wait to see Seb in Red. :pimp:

I hope Ferrari produces a better looking/performing car 2015.
What was said when Lewis Hamilton quit McLaren to join Mercedes in 2012

A trip down memory lane for all the reaction to Lewis Hamilton's bombshell defection from his boyhood team two years ago...
When Lewis Hamilton announced in late September 2012 that he would be leaving McLaren for Mercedes, the F1 world was stunned.

Few had seen it coming. Even less believed it made sense. Two years on, with Hamilton crowned World Champion, the reaction and response to Lewis’ bombshell makes for very interesting reading…

Quotes at the link.

Really good read, looking back at people's reaction to Lewis moving teams and what they thought will happen.
The image above is kind of sad though. I wish the McLaren Honda partnership gives them a good car next year.

Ron said it best when they went to Honda... and that is something along the lines of needing to be a works-team in order to win.  As a customer Merc team, they're never gonna get the most/best out of their engine... especially if your rival (MGP) can develop their car around the engine.
