NYC is a great city, beautiful city...easily the best, most influential city in america...you my man, contributed 0 to it becoming that great city..do yourself a favor, go get a lil more cultured...this aint middle school no more man...it takes more than being from NYC to impress people...

the "big city" what about Houston? (where i'm from) Miami? Dallas? Atlanta? we have Southern stuff about us but NY doesn't impress us or make us feel inferior. it's a small city with everyone bunched together and a bunch of lights and buildings. y'all can have it.

Dipset has always showed love to the South even before Southern artists took over the game that doesn't mean anyone was hopping on bandwagons. Can't have it both ways...When Up top cats show love, they're bandwagonning, when they keep it local, they're elitists. How does that sound?

And what does any of that have to do with Wayne stealing Juelz aura?....Which he def did.

From the Blood affiliation, to the fashion, to the slang to some borrowed rhyme patterns. He def used Harlem culture to reshape his image.

Doesn't really bother me cause I seen how that hate comes back around...and it will happen to the South soon when the focus shifts to Chicago or LA.

Bascially...The reason for the hate in the 90's was also based on the time period. The internet didn't exist, NY was making great music so people had no other need for other ****.

**** is different now, the internet has changed music and sound has become less defined than genre. New York has been playing southern music for a decade plus. All my friends love different regional rap from old 3-6, UGK, Outkast etc. People love Gucci, Waka and loads of southern cats here.

You mention a NY artist to anyone from the South? Instant hate. My freshman year roomate was from Dallas and he never listened to a single bit of music from the North besides 50 and would disregard even certified classics.

The New York hate is rooted in an inferiority complex. I'm not saying New York is even better than your city cause Ive gotten over that mentality as Ive gotten older but surrounding areas dislike us just for being bigger size wise basically. Like you will have people who never met someone from their and they go ona rant about how they hate New York or Jersey. Its music popularism, lots of little entities ganging up on the bigger guy to shut him out. New York is an offputting place to a lot of people because it is so different than everywhere else in America. It's an international city that in a way doesn't have a lot in common with the rest of the country and I think that is where a lot of the backlash stems from.

Really though I could care less though. Where music comes from couldn't be less important to my life. Good music is good music it exists around the world. If you didn't make it, why you bragging about it for?

New York hip-hop is just in a different place now. There are lots of young acts who won't get buzz nationally but exist on the internet and in the tri-state. Bronson, A$ap, World's Fair, Flatbush Zombies, Lloyd Banks, Chinx Drugs are all putting out innovative music that isn't that old NYC gate keeper crap but the average southerner or midwesterner wouldn't mess with it because of where it is from. Also to the region has produced Clams Casino and Harry Fraud who have crafting some of the best instrumentals in a long time.

And DC's mayor smoked crack. Dude just did that to draw attention to himself no different from the pastor who called out Meek Mill for Amen. Does Philly lose for that? If you think that conference was even a blip on anybody's radar than you are just reaching.

i just don't get how all these NY radio stations play all this south music but not their own artists. the game's all backwards, and payola definitely plays a role. if an artist doesn't mess with NY his music shouldn't get played all over the airwaves
