The expiring contract money is great. That much I like. Beyond that? Eh.

I hope we get a draft pick to get a good back-up to replace Grant. This also says we must be planning on making real FA signings.

I'm not too mad at the trade. It really depends what happens next. Obviously we have some glaring holes now. And if anything, he can just walk and we have more money to spend. Not too mad at the trade at all.

Pros:

- Additional $21 Million in expiring money
- Might be able to creep into the playoffs
- Should be an indicator that we go after legit free agents
- Rid ourselves of Calderon

Cons:

- Rose is past it
- Gave up youth in Grant and a solid role playing big man in Lopez
- Leaves us in no man's land should Rose not pan out and no one signs once again

I'm not understanding the backlash. Jerian Grant projects to be nothing more than a backup. Lopez is ok but certainly nothing to fret over. Rose is on a contract year. If it doesn't work out you let him walk. It's a low risk high reward move.
