Official Photography Thread: Vol. ICan'tFindTheLastOne

^ It will not autofocus on a D40, here's a quote from a review.

"The only gotcha is that you must focus manually on the D40, D40x or D60, even though they still meter and expose perfectly."

Dj Bana, i'm curious where you read the reviews for it. Most places say it's the best ultra wide for aps-c sensor cameras. Both quotes from differentsites.

"The Tokina AF 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX is currently the best ultra-wide angle zoom lens for Canon EOS APS-C DSLRs."

"The Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X is the best ultrawide zoom available for Nikon DX cameras, betterthan even Nikon's more expensive 12-24mm AF-S DX"

Whats a good camera to start out on......i can get a siick deal on a Nikon D60.....what do you guys think of it for a beginner?

Same here I've read nothing but good reviews so far. I guess I have to go to a camera shop and try out the lens and see how it feels on my own. It tookme a while before I bought my 18-200mm. Still after I bought it...I want the 70-300mm f/2.8 now.

Dude when are you going to buy anything? Everyday I come up in here and you are always deciding on something, but yet still undecided .. I want to see your buy something and put it to work ... lol ... I'm getting anxious for you and thats not a good sign ...

luckily here in DC the weather has been like crap if not I would of have found you drove you to the camera place and force you to buy something .. then hit the many landscapes there are around here and put it to work ..lol

I bought a Sigma 30 f/1.4
Buying a
Canon 17-55 f/2.8 -
Canon Nifty Two Fifty (55-250) is what is being called lol
Maybe a Canon 10-22mm
055XPROB

Weds when I get to the city

and I will post pictures - Getting ready for Xmas and new years with my newborn thats due on Xmas day .. I might have to invest in Flash and bigger memory card as I'm shooting Raw but we will see .. I have no idea to what I'm doing but after days of reading I know I have a good beginner kit that will take me a long way ... but as of now I don't know jack

along with all that I got

Adobe PS CS4
Adobe LR 2.2
Adobe Elements 7
Adobe Camera Raw

and for what? LOL .... All i know is how to open them and import pictures beyond that I'm clueless as well!
hey how much was that Sigma 30mm f/1.4?

BTW can anyone recommend a good/decent wide angle lens? I did my research and found this...
http://www.amazon.com/Sig...qid=1229934586&sr=8-3

is this any good?
I heard the Tokina 11-16 is probably the best wide angle lens for crop cameras. Most reviews say it is but i personally have not tried it.
Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 has been stuck on my D300 for the past 2 months

messing around in class the other day
Both of your shots were taken with a shutter speed of 1/30. I suggest using 1/80 and up to avoid camera shake. Bump up the ISO or use a wideraperture to maintain proper exposure.

i was playing around with my friends canon AE-1 with a nifty fifty today, and i fell in love with the nifty fifty. i think im gonna return my CDP for a niftyfifty since i dont have an extra $100 right now

QUICK ADVICE NEEDED!

I've got a d70 and looking for a new lens, right now I have an 18-55mm (no VR)

I'm looking at either an 18-105 VR or a 55-200mm VR

Looking for a general all purpose lens that I can use for different occasions, but I hear the 18-105mm blurs at the corners (KenRockwell)

What do you all recommend?

i have just made another decision... i'm going to buy a D80! hahah wow this stuff gets expensive

Tell me about it. I went from Rebel XT ($400) to 40D ($900) to 5D ($1500)...perhaps the 5D Mark II soon in the horizon

. Just a year ago, Iwas laughing at the $1000+ price tag for some lenses. Now it's becoming a norm

Was looking at the 50mm F2.5 but that ancient focus motor compared to the USM of the 100mm and the full time manual focus of the 100mm is what's making me lean more towards that direction. I heard the 90mm Tamron is good as well.

I had the EF-S 60mm for awhile but it was having compatibility issues with my XSi for whatever reason so i just returned it and got my money back. I'm trying to stay away from EF-S lenses in case i ever upgrade to full frame in the future. If anyone can recommend me anything from experience with either the 50mm or 100mm please comment, thanks a lot.
Hey man, I have the 100mm f/2.8 Macro and highly recommend it. Here are some sample shots with it mounted to my 40D. This little guy was probablyless than half an inch long. Note: both shots were converted from RAW and have not been sharpened or unaltered at all. The second shot shows just how amazingit's narrow depth of field is. The writing on the right is a fine print on the bottom of a flyer. The full-time manual USM is awesome since it will helpyou fine tune the desired focus. It was really hard to take photos of this guy since he's so small!

Not like i'm getting it from someone since no one knows i want this but i guess cause i'm looking to see how much money i'llget from gifts. Thanks again

Some talented dudes on this thread.

XT broke. Had no major lens/accessories investments so I picked up a used D80 and a 50mm f/1.8
