Gerrymandering has a direct effect on congressional and state/local races.

Voter suppression has a direct impact on all types of races including the presidential. Exhibit A: Wisconsin.

except da fact that democrats knew this ahead of time of da 2010 midterm elections and still rammed a obamacare bill that basically sealed their fates.

to da winners go da spoils.

The ACA beat a filllibuster and was debated for a year.

umm it was passed thru reconcilation (simple majority with zero GOP votes)...stay fibbing b.

Sigh

Oh Ediwn, you poor uniformed boy who refuses to learn or listen. We have been over this dude, again:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/obamacare-was-not-passed-using-budget-reconciliation/2016/01/22/e72d321a-bed5-11e5-98c8-7fab78677d51_story.html?utm_term=.fdefb298bd6d

The Jan. 9 news article “ Obama vetoes bill aimed at repealing health law ” repeated a commonly held misconception about the process used to pass the Affordable Care Act in 2010: “To pass the Obamacare repeal bill, Republican lawmakers used the complex budget procedure known as reconciliation to avoid a filibuster in this case — the same procedure Democrats used to pass the bill in 2009 when they controlled both the House and Senate.” The Senate did not use the reconciliaton process to pass the ACA. The act, comprising 906 pages, is the basic comprehensive substance of Obamacare. It was passed on a bill that was filibustered, and a supermajority vote of 60 was required to end that filibuster (by invoking cloture under Senate Rule 22). It was signed by the president on March 23, 2010, and became Public Law 111-148.

A second bill, which was a reconciliation bill, was passed after that date to make a series of discrete budgetary changes in the ACA. That act, the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, was signed by the president on March 30, 2010, and became Public Law 111-152. It comprises 54 pages, 42 of which dealt with health care. Like the reconciliation bill in 2010, the reconciliation bill that the president vetoed this month made discrete budgetary changes in existing law. That vetoed bill did not “repeal” Obamacare. It amended several of the law’s budgetary components while leaving the basic structure of the law in place.

Here is what a happen:

-The GOP offered hardly any other counter plans besides Tory Reform which would have solved nothing.

-The ACA passes the house under one version,

-The Senate passes another version of the ACA with some other changes

-The House and Senate were then to reconcile the differences

-The Dems lose the super majority in the special election in January of 2010 in Mass (this is the seat Lizzy Warren won in 2010)

-The House Democrats to pass the Senate Bill and, to appease the House Dems that didn't like budgetary parts of the Senate bill, the Senate Democrats agree to make changes to the ACA those changes where passed under reconciliation.

So please proceed to finally stop running you mouth spewing ignorance on this point. The ACA beat a filibuster.

Facts!! Budget reconciliation. A dubious legislative procedure. That's why so many people didn't know what was even in the bill.

Again Rico, again

This is the third time in a couple days you indulge in this level of petulance and show your ***.

You distanced yourself from Ninja and his nonsense before the election, but now you want to act stupid because you think he "got me". And now you gotta look silly with him. :smh:

How about to stop trying to climb up that high horse, keep studying that econ to run me the fade you promised, and call it a damb day

Guessing that people would vote for a pathological liar doesn't make you knowledgeable about business operations though.

this individual is so caught up with having bragging right then taking into consideration of what is really happening.

the mindset of some people is detrimental to humanities prosperity.

So we can dismiss gerrymandering, as far as a significant, direct, effect on the Presidential Election.

Then there is voter suppression, which is really a problem independent of the Electoral College. Whether we used the EC or national poll, voter suppression would be a problem. It is not unique to the EC.

--

What I'm trying to say, is that it is pointless to tie those points to the EC and use that to explain why HRC lost.

Everyone running knew how the EC works, and campaigned accordingly. They campaigned for the states they needed, not for the national poll. She lost because she couldn't win a single one of the swing states she needed, and even lost two of her own to the guy from the Apprentice.

--

As far as an argument on the merits of EC vs National poll, that's fine, I'm not trying to protect the EC. But pointing to her lead in the national is pointless because that's not what they campaigned for.

No we can not. Dude you're looking at it just in theory, in practice it plays a part.

Voter suppression is so potent because or gerrymandering. And Gerrymandering is so potent because House Seats (and in turn Electoral College votes) are locked at 538

They work together

-And no one is using this just to complain about Clinton losing. Yes the argument has to discuss the EC not representing the will of the people, and HRC and Gore are examples.

But there are a ton of other valid criticism of the EC and your voting system as a hole. With or with Gerrymandering or voter suppression.

and it STILL only passed by reconciliation...
The House passed the Senate bill with a 219–212 vote on March 21, 2010, with 34 Democrats and all 178 Republicans voting against it. The next day, Republicans introduced legislation to repeal the bill. Obamasigned ACA into law on March 23, 2010.

You're being so dense and refuse to take the "L"

It would have never became law if it didn't beat that filibuster. The reconciliation bill was to make budgetary changes to it

Learn your civics Edwin

-And the GOP was dead set against it from the jump, they didn't even offer alternative plans.

you're just a sheep dressed in a wolf's attire. no way would you be spilling that type of ignorance on the street. this is your haven because you know you can vent out your frustrations of your poor living situation.

it is here where you can pretend that you are living the life a lavish person. it is here you can throw on your facade of cheering for someone you know is a con man.

quite funny that now all of a sudden you want to homer for the right wing. it is only suitable that a person who champions for jewelry be misinformed about anything having nothing to do with caring about the outside world.

sure he is b.....

day one all those coal power regulations, and drilling bans, fracking,  keystone pipeline, etc from Obama's executive actions go down da drain..

then TPP gets tossed in da basura.

next, tax reform is gonna pass,

and you can pretty much sit on your *** and have double da GDP growth Obama's ever had in 8 years.

then when NAFTA gets either redone in our favor or scrapped and all that overseas repatriated money comes back after da corporate taxes

go to one of da lowest in da world, we reallllly get to da money.

that's why you are so lost. you would rather chance money at any means necessary even if you are damaging your health. what are you going to do with money when you can barely walk outside because the air is so polluted?

wikipedia as a reliable source. and prager university along with other fallible links. next thing you know he will be posting youtube links. oh wait he already has

Even in the damb link it says it beat the filibuster.

If Ted Kennedy doesn't die, then the chain of events leading to needing a reconciliation bill never happens.

Dems still goofed in the special election though

Edwin has no understanding how energy market and simple econ works.

That is why he is so hopeful

Some people only l learn through experience.

If he can even walk. I wonder how his back will feel after years of driving.

The highest the economy grew under Obama so far was 2.6%

So Trump is gonna get the economy to 5.2%

  Ok

-If that day comes, prepare for the boom.

Someone should introduce him to logaritm curves too

And let's remember that we went from a contracting economy to an expanding one. Obama started below zero percent growth.
