I don't have a problem but it's hard for me to wrap my mind around that statement remembering exactly how big Eddie Murphy was. If you mean right now, yeah Charlie is better than Eddie. But in terms overall. Eddie by a landslide. He was a rock star comic man.

I definitely agree in recent years Charlie is funnier. It's crazy because those that were old enough to remember Eddie would never believe that back then. If you haven't seen Delrious or Raw by Eddie, I strongly suggest you check it out. Some of it's dated but not a lot. That's what makes him classic, like many others.  His prime stuff is still funny.
