Meh, those movies that are being named are not that enjoyable to me. I felt that the Cruise movies had scenes that are just memorable even years later. There is nothing as epic as a few scenes from Top Gun, Days of Thunder, or Jerry Maguire to me on any of those lists.

I don't really think Cruise has the best set of movies of any male actor, but his movies are consistently 6's to 8.5's. Not many absolutely terrible movies like most other big name guys.
 
Hanks is more versatile

He can play an 11 yr old kid.....and an aids patient.
a ******.....to voicing animated features
Sleepless in seattle.....to saving private ryan

Versatility is crazy.

Cruise plays a buncha safe roles but he does em well....born on the fourth of july ...jerry mcguire.....etc.

But cruise dont really do risks. I dont think cruise eem won an oscar.
i like wen he does comedy tho like tropic thunder.

I just told my buddy this the other day. Cruise's movies are great but they aint bad. You can rear assured if he is in it he will entertain.

Tom = Action, Comedy, Suspense, Sci Fi, Drama, Rom Com

Other Tom = Drama, Rom Com

Now who sounds more verisitile?

Hanks definitely won,Cruise can't be the GOAT when he's not even the best actor named Tom,Cruise might not even be the second best actor named Tom....Tom Hardy puts in work...
 
A top 5 tom cruise is tough 

Minority Report (Dope concept w/ pre - crime) 

Top Gun (classic in every sense of the word) 

Edge of Tomorrow (great movie, great action, definitely groundhog's day + aliens)

MI 3 (PSH was so bad *****, MI 1 was great but this one ... wow) 

Risky Business (made you want to take over your parent's house, have a party and bang a hot older woman growing up) 

The Firm (i can watch this all day every day and not tire of it, crazy setup)

A Few Good Men 

7 movies ... couldn't do 5 ...

You're not versatile if you're playing a similar role in multiple genres.

Hanks range is far bigger than Cruise's. At this point still seeing this thread is a bit of a joke.

I don't know how you guys are questioning  his versatility.

It's cool if you don't think he's GOAT, because I was kinda saying this tonuge and cheek.

He could probably play george jung but not jack sparrow.

Besides tropic thunder Cruises roles are all the same guy in different situations lol

Cruise has the better filmography than depp imo but depp is a better actor.
 
Johnny should be what Pitt is and Pitt should be where Cruise is.

Depp and Pitt take some of the most questionable roles.
