Don't get me wrong...I think Porter has a much higher upside and will be a better pro..

however, I think as a rookie, GRJr. will have a bigger impact than Otto. His time in the d-league was invaluable.

I thought we should've made a run at Jarrett Jack, too, but then Ted decided to go out and buy a diamond engagement ring for a high character 3 point specialist and blew our budget.

Nonetheless, Nene looked great last night.  Al Harrington showed signs of life.  Beal legitimately looks an inch taller.  GR Jr. showed up when it counted.  Pops made his presence felt.  Martell did exactly what we [over]paid him to do.  John Wall was John Wall.

Just don't look for anything team oriented - because it wasn't there.  Shot selection was, on the whole, abysmal.  The team defense was poor.  Jan nearly fouled out in the first half.  Beal looked streaky and a little unsteady.  Seraphin does not appear capable of stepping in for Okafor and going up against starters.  Wall's midrange game may have improved, but the Nets could give him a five foot buffer when he's at the top of the 3 point line to inhibit penetration and suffer no ill effects from the gambit.  We played our starters easily twice as much as did Brooklyn and their second unit matched up just fine against out first unit...

It's one game.  We'll see what happens the rest of the way, but I'm prepared for our annual season opening losing streak.  _e might have to break out the underscore again... if only for a _eek.  It may take awhile for this group to come together, and Okafor's loss will be keenly felt.
Surprised they didn't have Buck and Chenier calling the game from the CSN studio

That's where this is headed.  They already moved them back 20 rows last season.  (Hence Buck's infamous dagger retraction.)

Another five years and they'll be broadcasting on tape delay from Phil's basement in Columbia.

Euroleague fans don't have to put up with these shenanigans, and they play in cold war era airplane hangars.  A professional sports team ought to exhibit a modicum of professionalism, don't you think?  Not an auspicious start to the "Monumental Sports" era.

Yeah it was just one preseason game but seeing how dudes like Tyshawn Taylor, Livingston, Blatche, Teletovic were giving it our starters is cause for concern. Brook Lopez made food out of Nene in the first quarter.

Ariza is still worthless. Martell needs to be the starter at the 3. Al started off slow but really looked good in the 2nd quarter. I don't like Seraphin at all.

Bench is still lacking a piece or two. Nonetheless...IF Wall, Beal, and Nene can play at least 70 games a piece this year...they'll be in the playoff hunt.

the game was shown live on the non HD NBATV with Nets broadcasters smh

I watched about a half of the game, John Wall looked ready to roll. Midrange jumper still there but I saw a few one man fast break attempts but no big deal. We're in huge trouble if Jan Vesely is starting though, I saw ZERO improvement :x
Yeah I caught the game on replay today.

The absolute worst thing about Vesely is his body language. It's hard to explain, but I just hate watching him because he carries himself like a scrub. For the sake of your teammates at least PRETEND to project some confidence when you're on the floor. I'm tired of watching that loser play for my team.

I supported his signing initially, but tbh Maynor did not look good. At least AJ Price could hit threes. If Maynor can't put up points with the second unit he's gonna be useless to us.

Glen Rice Jr was a bright spot.

Also I think the Nets are gonna be really good once they get into full swing, their depth is crazy. Kirilenko was a great signing. Lopez looks massive, nobody's gonna be able to stop him this year.

That's what it comes down to. If they can all stay healthy and play heavy minutes, we'll beat a lot of teams just off talent. Unfortunately all three of those players are injury prone, so let's just say I'll believe it when I see it.

If anybody goes down, we clearly don't have the depth to withstand it.

Jalen really don't reveal secrets like that...it be light stuff....haven't listenined to the wizard one so maybe he did goof with Chris but if he did it was on purpose...you can tell jalen hurt they don't have a close relationship from past pods

Didn't know meth was a wizard fan :nerd: you located in the dmv breh?

 Jalen says CWebb was upset because they did that one podcast about him. So he calls him out again publicly, in another podcast???

If dude didn't wanna talk to you before he definitely won't now, bc if I was Chris I would feel like Jalen is milking the "rift" for ratings. I don't think Jalen is a bad guy but he's letting Simmons egg him on to keep talking about Webber. On some 'give us the juicy details Jalen! type ****. If you sincerely cared about mending the relationship you wouldn't air personal business like that

Rose needs to just chill with this Webber stuff. It's obvious by now Webber doesn't want anything to do with him or the rest of the Fab Five. Especially since Rose keeps airing everything out to the public.

Yea Vic Page, don't forget about Maynor's knee. But it is going on 2 years so I understand why you think he isn't much based on his recent activity.

But a lot of the dudes you listed (Nate and Will especially) don't offer a "change of pace" from Wall. I think Maynor's ability to run a team is his biggest trait. It isn't a statistical thing per-say but he can run a squad man. Lettuce see how he does this year.

 Welcome to the area man

I guess no one else saw the game

Looks like we've found another solid rotation player in GR Jr. He can score, run in transition, and is active on defense. That awkward moment when Rice Jr ends up being a better rookie than Porter..

Maynor made some nice passes today, was great at on ball pressure (he was in Teagues shirt and forced some TOs in the backcourt). So that was good. The bad was that he took too many dumb shots. Idk if he was trying to prove himself to his teammates or what. But Eric Maynor heroball is not in the gameplan, this ain't VCU son

Wall was ***. Beal was Beal. Vesely was a little better today, considering that he normally gets emasculated by the Bulls frontline. The fact of the matter is that he's gonna get a lot of minutes until Okafor gets back so we'll have to live with him.

I watched here and there.

With Okafor sidelined indefinitely, I have a hard time seeing the rest of frontcourt holding down the fort. They've got to find a half-decent big in exchange for Ariza's expiring.

Kid hasn't played a minute yet, and he's already got everyone spooked. Myself included, to be fair.... :smh: With this team I'm permanently in that 'expect the worst, hope for the best' mindset.

And on that note, I think we're all just expecting it to happen this year, but just to be safe, lettuce pray this is indeed Wall's breakout season. The alternative is too depressing to contemplate. We all know the talent is there, so hopefully what we saw at the end of last season in terms of approach and decision-making has stuck.

Na...he's trash. Take your VCU hat off.

Guarantee you he won't even put up Shelvin Mack #'s this season.

One of the better backups?

Would rather have (in no order):

Jarrett Jack
Patrick Beverly
Mo Williams
Andre Miller
Norris Cole
Darren Collison
Goran Dragic
Devin Harris
Luke Ridnour
Ramon Sessions
Grevis Vasquez
Shaun Livingston
Aaron Brooks (who probably won't even play)
Will Bynum
Nate The Great

That's literally HALF of the league's back up points and I purposely left out rookies like McCollum, Larkin, etc.

Which one of those dudes is Maynor better than to justify being considered "one of the better"?

People are down on Otto for one reason...summer league. That's it.

He's going to make alot of people look silly THIS season.

If you've never watched Maynor play or run an offense on a team, then you would be right to assume those listed players are "better." Some things players do don't show up in the box score.

I'll stick by my statement and I bet the players on OKC miss his presence and ability to get the right people the ball in situations to score.

Right...I bet they wish Maynor was available for the finals.

That may be what they needed to get them over the hump.

This team in mu mind will be a very interesting if they can keep guys healthy as possible Wall & Nene last year kind of hurt them but this year i see both doing great Wall career best numbers & Nene returning to some very productive numbers

Well I'm a little different. I dont think the talent is there. I believe that  our talent is overrated outside of Wall and Beal.

I don't like the fact that Wall is such a streaky/emotional player. His confidence seems to go up and down all the time.

A part of me suspects that the only reason he was playing so well last season, was because he knew it was do or die time to prove himself worthy of the max. Dude was making all those midrange jumpshots off pure willpower. Now that he got his money and proved the 'haterz' wrong, there's a chance that he's just gonna regress to the player he always was.

We didn't pay 80 mil for the Wall who misses wide open jumpshots and has 1-for-9 games. We paid 80mil for the confident Wall who is making shots, putting pressure on defenses, and orchestrating the action on the floor for his teammates. They are two completely different players, and we are all banking on him becoming that second player.
