According to the Bo Mattingly Show the Razorbacks will announce their new head coach today. It is not an interim and it is not anyone on the current staff.

The Arkansas Razorbacks have a previously scheduled press conference set for Monday afternoon, though it's one at which they could announce their head coach for the remainder of 2012. (And, no, it's not Bud Foster, despite the Hokies scheduling a likely coincidental surprise press conference.)

Offensive coordinator Paul Petrino, defensive coordinator Paul Haynes, running backs coach Tim Horton and current acting head coach Taver Johnson have been the four most frequently mentioned as possible interims. If the interim route isn't the answer, there's no telling who the new hire could be, as rumors have flown in every direction since Bobby Petrino was fired.

In possibly related news, a Razorbacks football banquet has been delayed.

Should have just let Taver Johnson run the team. It's only a 10 month contract so it's not too bad. Long is gonna have to make a home run hire after the season that's for sure.
 
I love taver but no way is he ready to be a hc right now. that being said, John L Smith um he's no Sean Payton.

Gunna it'll probably be Carlos hyde starting but hall will split the reps.

I get the decision. He has HC experience and can keep things status quo. He'll probably be like a figurehead and get out the way for the coaches to coach.

Plus he's coached w/ just about everyone on the staff. They could've done way worse.

Didn't want to end up how Ohio State ended up last year.
 
Jeff Long franked that deal up. He had the green to bring a great hire by any means necessary, pissed off quite a few board members and boosters.

Now, Arkansas must take a kick to the stomach in recruiting and hope that the job stands out against other openings next offseason ( it should). Bad thing is, we will be losing a lot of depth in the program this year.

Positive - John L Smith just left the staff in December and the continuity within the program should remain the same for at least a year. Players and coaches can relax now and just go contend for a title.

Jeff better make a HELL of a hire at the end of the season to put this behind him.

Coordinated offering of sex & drugs/alcohol to recruits is currently being investigated by the EPD.
Register Guard has a story ready to print, as soon as they are close to levying charges

i mean i hate oregon but that is wayyyyyy to harsh for what they did

add in let the record show early rumors of what was going to happen to USC,ohio state and UNC where so far off from what they really got
