If people are drawn to the product, regardless of reasoning, developers will create for it. That's just how it works. I'm sorry your non-descript 3rd party tablet that will join the party too late isn't going to get the same love.
"if loving you is wrong, i don't wanna be right"
sounds like you're gonna propose to the ipad. if i was to use your arguments, i could say "x pop star is better than x musician because they have a greater marketing budget."
all of the fields/professions that you say the ipad is supposedly gonna revolutionize require REASONING. no professional who applies reasoning in their career is gonna go for this. i can see kids with money to blow getting something like this, it's all novelty.
if einstein was alive today, would he use the ipad? probably not, but apple's marketing/advertising drones didn't hesitate to desecrate his image for a silly ad campaign.
typing this on a 2006 macbook, and love it, no hate for apple here.
What? I'm sorry, I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
I don't know why you highlighted and underlined that particular part of what I wrote. Reading comprehension is key. What I was saying is that it doesn't matter why a person buy's the iPad. What matters to the developer is that people are buying the iPad.
Please explain the part I highlighted. What exactly do you mean by reasoning? I'm saying I could see the iPad used to better share and help visualize information in those professions.
in your past replies you mention that the ipad will revolutionize certain fields. i say not really because the ipad doesn't offer any new innovations to share information.
in the post i quoted you on, you speak on how marketing affects the products sales outcome.
i think marketing/advertising for ipad will work on people who are easily influenced, mainly young people who lack reasoning skills and buy whatever a commercial tells them is "cool".
professionals like doctors apply reasoning in their jobs. these people don't lack reasoning/critical thinking and are not likely to be swayed to purchase a product based on advertising. like others have said previously, doctors are already using laptops to communicate with their patients/colleagues therefore they have no need for a gimmick like the ipad.
and reading your replies i made an observation that leads me to believe you have a love affair with the ipad. it is said that there is no reasoning involved when you fall in love with someone. you just do.
Oh my god, stop. Please. A love affair?
Okay, let me break it down for you.
1) I believe the iPad will revolutionize how we consume media because:
- it has multi-touch capabilities
- it has a lot of screen space, giving developers more room to develop applications for it
So yes, I believe the iPad will change how information is shared. Some have disagreed and that's fine. That's your opinion. What I know is that I've already seen a couple great examples of applications developed already so shortly after the release. The Alice video OP posted is just one interesting new way that information is being presented. One might scoff at how "useful" or "necessary" an interactive book may be but I feel it's a cool step towards a new direction in how we see and interact with digital things. It's not hologram technology, it's not some Star Wars/Minority Report/Avatar type of stuff but it's cool nonetheless.
2) Again, the bolded part of your quote, I am not disagreeing with you at all. What you fail to see is that it doesn't matter if those people are "young" or "easily influenced", what matters is that there are people buying the product. If people are consuming the product, developers are going to want to develop applications for the things people are using.
3) Are you a doctor? I hope to hell not because your ability to comprehend appears to border on the elementary. So you're saying a doctor would apply reasoning to their purchase. Would they then not go and test out the product first and see how well it works for them? Would they not try to consider how the available technology within the iPad could somehow be applied to applications for their field? I mean just on this page, there was an app that helped people better visualize the information about the various elements, would something like that but about diseases or viruses and things of that nature not be feasible? I'm saying the iPad can be a great tool to help communicate, to help visualize, and to just make things we can already do be even better. Also, I'm talking about tablets here, in particular the iPad. I understand laptops can do what iPads can do but I believe that tablets have an edge in information presentation and interaction.
4) Love affair
Like people can't just stand back and have an objective opinion on something. I don't own an iPad and won't until they implement a front facing camera among other things. It's not a perfect device right now and it's going to take a while for Apple to get it down right. For some reason, people put Apple on this pedestal and believe they're screwing their customers for not getting it right the first time. The iPad is a new platform and since when has the first incarnation of ANY new platform been perfect? I just see the potential in this device. That is all. Love affair
I literally lol'ed
