100% changed the whole sneaker culture turned it into a sneaker “game” of hype and releasing. Anytime folks camping 12+ in Detroit it’s a problem for sure. Galaxy Foams put the Icing on the Cake though.Concord release was when everything went downhill IMO
It was the concord XI release which kicked off the series of craziness.
The galaxy pack was just part of the aftermath.
Yea I loved midnight online releases. Then just going to the store maybe an hour ahead of time and be in and out.The concords definitely started the craziness. I used to just walk into stores on release date and walk out with what I wanted 5 mins later. Out on Nike.com at midnight.
How did folks cop Galaxy foams? I remember some dude trading his car for a pair, but they were unicorns to me. Ive still only seen 2 pair in person.
I remember Jimmy Jazz phone in orders was on that bull****I had the opportunity to cop a pair back in the day. I honestly didn’t care for the quality and promise it to my friend for retail. I wasn’t about to resell either. Anyways on the day of release. I had to stand in a secret line for about 2 hours. After I purchased the shoes, I was escorted out the back door with 2 security guards. It was insane. Never again. And yes, stay true to my word and gave to my friend for retail.

Man you know what really really started the craziness with hype... what release IMO it was?
The OG 6/11 DMP pack
The night of release OMG... NT almost broke... like seriously.
Before that too... the Black Laser IV in 2004... that release was... grimey on NT to say the least... dudes was withholding info, giving wrong info to throw fools off the path I think bigj505 might have had a hand in that too... have you no decency.

It's funny you mention a story like this
I, well not me a friend that is into kicks too, had a very different situation. He had a friend, I do not know said friend though, and we'll call him Galaxy connect, that went I want to say maybe upstate NY, maybe Yonkers, but it was somewhere out there that was outside of NYC. I don't know if he was supposed to tell him, but my friend wouldn't have been able to make it because he had to work. His friend, Galaxy connect, went to some boondocks spot to cop and I think ended up getting two pairs.
Now my friend thought he was going to look out and give him the other pair, but he didn't and I told my friend that what did you expect they are reselling for $2K so you can't knock him. I guess my friend thought he would return the favor since he helped him with a couple of releases too, but I think most of them were GR releases and I told him the Galaxies are a different ballgame
Think their relationship soured a little after that too.
It was the same for me on the Concord release. I lived across the street from the mall and went around 7 and the line was out the mall door and around the side of the building. I went straight home. Ended up getting them the next year on BRED release day. FNL had that small stock and I got early access, ended up getting both that day.You 1000% correct.
I went to the mall at 6 in the damn morning and it was PACKED. Dudes was out there saying they been here since 3 in the morning and still ain't get them.
I got my concords like 3 months later on ebay but I was done copping shoes after that for years.
Just too much hype. Folks just jumping on the bandwagon, don't know anything about the athletes that wore these shoes. I still cop here and there but what the sneaker culture has turned into is a joke.
Yea. Something similar happened to me. I had a friend who knows nothing about shoes. I asked him to enter a raffle for the Jordan 23 titanium. He was sure. I got you. When we got there, he found out it was super limited. He then put his size down and said if he wins he’s going to sell it. I was kind of shocked. I just wanted the shoes. Not that we will win but just for him to put our friendship on the line based on chance? Our friendship was never the same. A few years ago. My wife was like. Why dont you ask your friend nick to be one of your groomsmen. I gave her a short “nope”
Damn, did you at least invite him to your wedding?
Also, did/does he know you were mad for what he did?
Of course I did. I’m not petty.
But I did tell him straight up the day he filled that raffle that it was messed up. The drive home was quiet and awkward. I’m not by any means hot tempered. I just said it in a calm voice. That’s pretty messed up. He knew and stayed quiet for the rest of the ride home.
When it comes to money. I know people show their true self. I can’t be mad. Just shocked.
FTL is being so dysfunctional. Make a decision, pick a day and move on.So I got word that Big Bang maybe a FCFS. Ftl got an email out that it suppose to be on the app today. They are stating it’s FCFS. The reason why it’s being delayed is because it may change to raffle. I guess we will see.
