Houston Rockets Thread - Preseason vs Spurs (Friday)

ah, I see the confusion...

RHJ = Rondae Hollis Jefferson (Zona, Pac 12)
(draft express link you posted was right. He's longer than that guy, marginally less athletic, and all the other stuff I said)

RJH = RJ Hunter. (GA State)

Who plays 0 defense. He's all offense.

Not that Anderson can't still have a higher ceiling, but Rondae to me is just another animal. I think he'll be a defensive specialist. Tony Allen ceiling imo (if he gets stronger)

Whereas I see Justin Anderson having a higher overall ceiling (both ends of the floor inclusive)

wow this whole time i was thinking RJ Hunter... i was like man am i missing something???

haha, yea man, RJ might end up being better than Kevin Martin, but I'll disown the Rockets if we venture down a Kevin Martin path again.

patrick beverly is a bottom 5 nba starting point guard. that's not even hyperbole.

darren collison is actually a competent point guard who can run an offense, pick and roll, and can play defense too. at 4 million, he's a way better option than beverley at 6-8 (if that's what the market ends up being for him)

do work son do work son
@RetroBaller
#butwouldyoutradeDwightforBoogiethough...?

that's the only point (less) point being made. wishful thinking but yea.

in a heartbeat. better contract, younger. not as good defensively, but a pure bully down low offensively.

Collison is too little imo

He's not stopping any of the top West PGs (despite his defense not being bad). or giving them problems on the other end. He'd be a good backup though, keeping offense fluid

Game is changing, unless your small guy is Curry/Westbrook level skill or athleticism, you need to have a big point guard out there defending them

i agree. given the 2, i'd take collison. if i had my choice, i want someone 6'4 and up.

i want no parts of RJ Hunter. volume shooter at the college level and i don't think he's that good.

@WojYahooNBA: The Houston Rockets have picked up the option on forward Kostas Papanikolaou's 2015-'16 contract, league source tells Yahoo Sports.

Guys...guys...guys....why are we talking about the draft. We all know Mchale isn't gonna play any of these guys...EVER

I kid...I kid. IMO Rockets gotta try and trade TJones and keep Josh, or let Josh walk and keep TJones...doesn't really matter which IMO but one needs to go. Whoever stays better be prepared to come off the bench because DMO needs to be starting at PF and getting more PT than both those guys next year.

Otherwise I don't see any real ways to upgrade the team other than trades...no rookie is gonna get any burn with this team and Mchale at coach.

swap picks with portland (18 for 23) and do this

View media item 1598894
then trade nick johnson and 32 to move up a little.

use picks on RHJ/Justin Anderson/Rashad Vaughn

MLE on Llull.

Llull/?
Harden/Brewer/McDaniels
Justin Anderson/RHJ
LMA/Dmo
Dwight/Capela

leaves a hole at point still, but thoughts?

Wish there was a way we could sigh Monta Ellis for cheap and he comes off the bench for Harden  you would know 100% that your bench wouldn't be completely anemic at times. That too much wishful thinking though

I wish we don't go for the home run place this year and keep Ariza he is so important to the team and it looks like he loves it here we need to get a playmaking PG i'd rather that we trade for Lowry/Lawson than just dumping Ariza for LA or Love.

Portland wouldn't even consider without DMo as part of that package

Portland doesn't have many options. He's leaving them anyways. As resident Blazers fan @Chester McFloppy said, it's the best package that anyone has offered so far

true… we would assume Portland is in tank mode, dealing Batum and what not.. But I reckon they'd want at least a Dmo or Capela included in the deal instead of Jones

no one really knows. i think he'll want 8 mill a season but i think that's too high for us to resign him. i think he's worth 4-5 per

it's either they take that, or he walks straight up in FA without a trade and they get nothing at all. it's not a bad offer considering the circumstances.

I'd give him 3 years 24 million. That's seems like pretty good value to me.

Hopefully we can snatch him away from you guys. We need a dog on Defense.

kal-el-8 kal-el-8 if you offer him that, he's yours. you're better off with clarkson. beverley might be a dog on defense, but commits stupid fouls away from the ball and can't consistently create offense. imo he's a bottom 5 starting point guard but people like him here because of the intensity and hustle he brings. i might be undervaluing that aspect of his game, but i don't want to spend that money on him

I assume he'd be lower on our priorities and I actually think Rondo signs a 1 year deal worth 7-8 mil with us, but if he went elsewhere I could see us going after him.

Only problem is he'd have to be gone by summer of next year cause Westbrook isn't playing with him

I only want Bev back if he's coming off the bench.

We MUST upgrade at PG.
