Michael Jordan Calf Sleeve

I got mine at %%@!* sporting goods its black with a red inner. when you put it on you just fold the top down an inch or so exposing the red.

I have pain above my knee but more on the inside, so what can I purchase for that? Any GRID products? I believe MJ wore things to help him on his knees, too.

Good advice is appreciated.

Its like there are gatekeepers on NT. Just answer the question and keep it moving.

just go to big 5 or any other major sporting good store. Go to the section that sells preventative braces/sleeves. They are usually black, but the trick is toput it inside out if you want the red look. I want to say McDavid sells it.

Does that thing help shin splints

Yes, it does help shin splints.

I had to wear one during freshmen year because my shin splints were so severe. The one I wore was a Nike forearm sleeve, designed for running backs, givento me by a specialist. He said I needed as much compression on my calf/shin as possible without causing discomfort. The first one he gave me was too loose anddidn't help, so he gave me the forearm sleeve.

But I understand why he would ask why the guy wants it. I personally, DID like the look of it. However, I would not have worn it if I didn't.

When I was wearing mine, the big "trend" was the little knee bands that go on top of the knee cap (can't think of the condition that itapplies to) and TONS of guys were wearing them claiming they had knee problems.

And when a bunch of guys are running around, wearing stuff they don't need, it gives a negative stigma to the guys who actually do. It's like thatguy dressed in Jordan from head to toe who can't play basketball worth a $!$*.

^^ i agree to an extent but it shouldnt matter what he wants it for if he is garbage and is a 13 yr old kid wanting to look like MJ just tell him and move on.But its whatever im going to try one know, i get horrible shin splints im just not sure about wearing one on both legs?

Osgood Slaughter Disease is the inflammation of the patellar tendon where the knee meets the top of the tibia (shinbone). The condition is caused by stress on the tendon that attaches the muscle at the front of the thigh to the tibia. It is probably caused by the powerful quadriceps muscle pulling on the attachment point of the patellar tendon during running activities such as soccer, basketball, track and other sports and in gymnastics and ballet.

The symptoms associated with Osgood Slaughter Disease is swelling and tenderness in the knee joint. It is most common in active children aged 10-15. It is the most common source of knee pain in children. Both males and females are equally vulnerable now, but at one time, the condition was found mainly in boys. It is always characterized by activity-related pain that is located a few inches below the knee cap. Sports that require a lot of running, jumping kneeling and squatting are particularly associated with Osgood Slaughter Disease.

The three main factors of the disease are:

1. The child is between 10 and 15 years old

2. The child is involved in youth sports

3. The child is in a 'growth spurt'

The disease was named after two physicians who defined the disease in 1903. About 2 million boys and girls in the United States contract Osgood-Slaughter Disease yearly.

Calf Sleeve

The MJ game used sleeve I have is made by Grid. MJ would fold the top of the sleeve down for two reasons:
1) Concealing the brand name, Grid, from public display.
2) Displaying the inner red color creating a trademark image.

^yup also called 'jumper's knee' symptoms include a bump below the knee. i have it and +#@+ hurt like crazy when i first got it.

I have provided a summary of the disease and the history of the disease for educational purposes. As far as your statement regarding Kobe and A.I. wearingneoprene arm sleeves which "serve no purpose". You are wrong.

Neoprenematerial is known to provide the highest heat retention and insulation of any material. Unlike elastic braces which can stretch only in two directions, neoprene braces can stretch in four. Neoprene's unique characteristics allow it to support, without bunching up and maintains its shape. Neoprene usuallylasts longer than standard elastic braces.

Some of the goals of the Neoprene Brace are :

-Increase activity
-Stabilization
-Decrease anti-inflammatory medications
-Decrease pain symptoms
-Improve function
-Provide warmth

If an athlete wears abrace, strap, or sleeve it should be for a practical / functional purpose. Those individuals who wear one because (fill in your favorite players name here) wears one, you are probably a talentless poser who needs a different hobby.

the sleeves they wear on there arm isnt neoprene lol the ones on their calves are. the one on the arm is just cotton

There may be cotton sleeves which players wear. There are also neoprene and spandex. I have a game used A.I. sleeve which is made of spandex. ThePhiladelphia 76ers equipment manager, Scott Rego, told me A.I. would wear the sleeve to prevent court burn (due to A.I.'s aggressive playing style whichresulted in him getting knocked to the floor).

I spent 10 years in the league. I have a fairly comprehensive idea of the equipment used and for what functionality (and/or) practicality.
