Cali WAS ill. But it was all artificial wealth that is starting to get purged from the system. Aggressive expansionary fiscal policy ftl. Cali is a bubble state, all of its nice wealth is all artificial and as the bubbles collapse, so goes the dope Cali life.


There has been some major despair in some of the bubble communities, the places that were in the exoburbs and they were thriving because of rapidly rising homeprices. It is in those places were the home prices have fallen the most and the economy was heavily based on rising home prices. Closer to the city, homeprices are still high and the local economies are more diversified. The California good life is still alive and well in many places.


King Louis, please do not generalize, Irvine does not represent all of So Cal. Although I can see how it would seem like So Cal is obsessed with malls seeingas how the Spectrum is the center of life down there in Irvine.

To the OP, I would suggest going to Hollywood if you're in that. Even if you aren't reallt into celebrities, the Walk of Fame is cool because of thenames that will randomly appear at your feet. If you want more cultural stuff, check the Ghetty art museam, the Museum of Contemporary Art, The Natural HistoryMuseum, the Villa in Malibu (it is focused on ancient Greek and Roman art), The LA County Museum of Art and my favorite the La Brea Tar Pits (it is museum thatis built next to the huge pits of tar that trapped and preserved the bones of all sorts of pre hisoric beasts). The beach is always good even though the wateris too cold for swimming this time of year. Check out the malls for a little bit, mostly to see the eye candy.

Also when you go to California, the sushi is great, there are a lot of places and the fish is usually great here and consumers here are pretty discerning.Naturally, you gotta hit up some of the hole in the wall Mexican places and some of the taco stands. The bacon, chili pepper, grilled onions and mayo hot dogsare great street food and you gotta get one when you are walking around on Hollywood blvd or coming out of pretty much any club late at night. Other types offood that is very good here is Thai food, we like our Thai curries and soups and noddles and other insanely flavorful dishes.
